RB Salahadin Allah out for season with achilles injury

I had the over/under at 3.5 wins. I would be pleasantly surprised if they won more than 4 games.
I'm about there. Like with Campbell's first year, I want to see us compete well in every game and get better by the end of the season.

We could be better than that. We added a ton of linemen and the QB certainly has talent. The LB's will likely be better. I have real hope that the WR's will be good. The RB's are interesting. We have a terrific kicker. Heck, we're going undefeated.

Because we lost the 3rd string (at best) running back for the year?
And I don't think when the season started this fall that he would have been #3. If Peppers is truly healthy by then, he would have jumped him for sure.... and maybe Francois as well.

I believe by some reports.... Allah came into spring quite a bit overweight and out of shape too if I remember that correctly??

He was listed at 222lbs last year at Oregon st. Up from 206 his freshmen year. Whether that was his own doing or Oregon St’s program for him, he had a bit to go to get to a better playing weight

I guess I missed the asterisk that showed that.
No asterisk, but we should all be able to agree that a bad season defined by a bunch of close losses isn’t as bad as a bad season defined by ass kickings.

True, but after 10 years or so, people forget about whether they were close or not and just look at the record. Those outside of ISU fans just look at the record period. So it is irrelevant basically.

This ain’t your daddy’s Big 12. It’s up for grabs every year. Arizona State went from worst to first. It’s too early to write off a team that hasn’t taken a snap yet.
If Jimmy wins the Big 12 as the lowest paid P4 Head Coach and the least funded team in the league, then that would put an end to an auto bid for the big 12 in the future lol.

If the Tulane transfer commits and Peppers is ready, we will have 6 scholarship backs. 4 of the 6 aren’t real big, so I can see several guys getting opportunities. I think we have some home run ability in the room.

We should probably brace ourselves for this to be our worst season in a decade.
Ironically the team that currently boasts that ('22) also had a hard time keeping guys healthy in the backfield. We were so spoiled for awhile there with Montgomery and Hall back to back. Mike Warren was really solid too the season before Montgomery broke out. Things perked up a bit finally with Hansen kind of breaking out for us last year, but currently feeling a bit desperate

Are the amount of season ending injuries we've had normal? It seems like it's just been an absurd number the last 3 years, but I don't follow this stuff close enough with other schools to really know.
Maybe we they were not reported until the season got closer? Mclaughlin had a back injury two years ago and didn't play until November and last year he had a career ending injury that wasn't talked about.

I will be surprised if Peppers stays healthy this fall.
I'm getting the sense that Peppers probably won't play much at Iowa State. If he was injured a lot in high school, injured on first play last year and hat setbacks in his recovery, he seems to be injury prone. We've seen before with guys like Daniel Jackson that these players usually don't turn the corner health-wise.
