OUCH Seiya

At one point, I felt good when Seiya was up with RISP compared to Happ or Swanson. But not lately. And it's not only they aren't getting hits, but they also aren't moving guys in scoring position when there are less than 2 outs. I would be interested in Suzuki, Happ and Swanson's SO rate in those situations (<2 outs & RISP).

In 17 plate appearances this season in which there was a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, Ian Happ is hitting .071 (1-14) with 9 strikeouts. It's hard for me to believe there is a worse guy in the league, possibly in our own farm system, at scoring a run in that situation. Dude is a ******* bum, and I can't wait to move on from him next year.

*Absolutely expecting him to go on one of his 5 game heaters to make me eat crow this upcoming week before reverting back to being a steaming pile of dog **** again*

Damn that's brutal.

I’d bargain let’s get it before the deadline
If you get Boyd back you can move Rea or Brown to the pen which would be a huge help. I still don't trust Steele is going to give us anything this year but if he could come back then you have both Rea and Brown which would almost solve the problem. But still, need to find one more dependable arm somewhere at least. Just really nobody to go to right now other than Palencia and Milner.

In 11 plate appearance this season in which there was a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, Seiya Suzuki is hitting .111 (1-9) with 6 strikeouts.

Bregman is less depressing. In 11 plate appearances in which there was a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, Alex Bregman is also hitting .111 but with only 2 strikeouts, which has led to him having the same amount of RBI's in that scenario as Seiya and Happ, combined.

The pitching is just a giant problem. You can’t have a bottom half of the league rotation and bullpen and expect to win at a high clip.

Not sure the front office will do much. They can blame the injuries.

Not a great look dropping 2 of 3 to these clowns. That's baseball though. Going to need to get some bullpen help at the deadline, we already knew that though.
Cubs would have scored 15 runs today if they didn't leave so many on base. Bullpen isn't great, but can't be leaving so many on base. Cubs are worst in the Majors at both team left on base, and runners left in scoring position.

Thanks for pulling those stats. I mentioned last week that I feel the Cubs have a playoff ceiling because of lack of velocity among starters and relievers. I didn't want to pile on, but my other playoff limiter was lack of clutch hitting by Happ & Swanson over the years. So far this season we can add Suzuki.

Bregman has struggled, but I like his approach and with better hitters around him would help. I think the Cubs have somewhere around $125M in expiring/voidable contracts after the season. Hope they can inject some new blood via free agency. And find a way to give some prospects like: Ramirez, Long, Alcantara or Triantos a legit shot in Chicago. Even if its just a utility role in 2027.

Worth mentioning Pedro Ramirez did just log a game in LF. I’ve seen some speculation there’s a good chance he plays a good amount of innings next year in a corner.

Yes if he and Shaw do some type of a platoon in a corner OF next year. The one not in the outfield can serve as a super utility. That’s assuming we only resign one between Happ and Suzuki.

Yes he’s emotional.
Yes he’s immature.
But in all fairness foul mouth ***** is a sox fan which is being redundant i know.
Why is this even kind of a big deal? I went to a lot of Royals games in the 80s, drove down from Des Moines. There was this white haired bearded dude, at every game I went to, who sat in the right field seats. He gave every visiting right fielder hell the whole game. To the point, he had Harold Baines flipping him off between every pitch at one game.

Maton can't be trusted in close games at this point. He's turning into this season's version of Pressly. Don't care how good he has been in recent seasons - he's had plenty of chances this season and has not come through when needed.

I had ice thrown at me from the balcony in Auburn Hills back in 2000.

That's awesome. If fans talk **** to players they better be prepared to get it back. Heckling is fun. One time when I was sitting in left field at a poorly attended day game at the I-Cubs I heard the right fielder say "F*CK!" loudly when he misread a pop fly. I yelled out "Watch your mouth!" The players in the bull pen were rolling and he got a chuckle out of it. Yelling out "He's got two strikes and NO BALLS!" is another fun one.
