I actually like the fact that we are picked to finish last in the Big 12; not because of chip-on-the-shoulder thing, like you might think. It gives the new coach the runway he needs to get his thing going and know that how ever he does, it probably will beat expectations.

We haven’t really moved up the food chain though. In terms of resources, we’re still essentially at the bottom, although adding G5 to the conference helped in that regard

Fortunately, the sport has changed, with more parity overall. The portal, revenue sharing, and expanded CFP making it closer to MLB. Even the poorest MLB franchise has a chance if run well and with good scouting

Colorado, West Virginia, UCF, Kansas, Baylor, Cincy, TCU, and K State could easily finish below us. That's the point. We have no clue year to year. Nobody is clearly below us and 8-9 programs aren't clearly above us. Not complicated.

Also, in this week's verbal nitpick: Last year on Two Guys, Hassel finally corrected CW's pronunciation of Dillingham. It's with an "i", not an "e", but CW is back to saying "Dellingham." Just correct him, Blum!

We got 12 defense transfers from Wazzu who had a pretty good defense with proven on field results. But I wouldn’t expect meatheads from ESPN to do any kind of analysis on that when the $EC has to be serviced regularly. Just keep expectations in check and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Shoot I'd pick us for last or close to it. We don't know anything about this team or staff and thats fine for year 1. I will be cheering regardless but I can't get too high on a complete unknown.
