Usually I get C1/C2 parking. Considering Vet Med but worried about the single entrance and public parking around it. Is Vet Med difficult to get out of after the game?

I know there have been many threads on the pain of departing the Jack, just want to know if Vet is even worse than the others, or does 16th street make it better. I'll do another search of old threads, but I couldn't find anything specific other than general complaints of everywhere. I take it, it is worse from your response.
its not great but in all seriousness is there an easy lot to get in/out of if youre not showing up when gates open or leave before game is over?I know there have been many threads on the pain of departing the Jack, just want to know if Vet is even worse than the others, or does 16th street make it better. I'm so grateful I am an Ames resident and don't have to deal with the University Blvd/Mortensen tomfoolery.its not great but in all seriousness is there an easy lot to get in/out of if youre not showing up when gates open or leave before game is over?
like they all suck equally, imo
Maybe in 15 to 20 years at the speed of road projects in Ames....Does anyone think the project to widen S. 16th St will improve any of this?
I wouldn't think it'll change much unless they start letting lots exit to the West also. Last year they closed 16th to Westbound traffic after games, so both lanes headed east - Lots on the North side used the left lane and lots on the South side used the right lane. That helped a bit. Now there will be four lanes, but they will still have to filter down to 2 by the time they reach Grand Ave so it'll still be a mess - maybe worse TBH. Everyone always ends up fighting to get to the right hand lane to be able to go South on Duff since you can't enter 30 from Dayton.Does anyone think the project to widen S. 16th St will improve any of this?
The city really needs to close 16th from Grand down to the stadium for an hour to two after the game and use all four lanes to get out of the lots pushing people east. Left two lanes for people wanting to go North, and south two lanes for people wanting to go south. Put a cop or two right there at Grand waving the traffic through. Simple change that would help a bunch clearing out the GA and Vet Med lots.I wouldn't think it'll change much unless they start letting lots exit to the West also. That just moves the bottlenecks. You are already backed up on Grand at LW and 4th as well as 16th and Duff with 16th and Duff being worse because it's already the heaviest traffic road in Ames. The city really needs to close 16th from Grand down to the stadium for an hour to two after the game and use all four lanes to get out of the lots pushing people east. You need to do the same at Duff, put a cop there, and use the two lanes instead of only the right hand lane to turn south. You would only have to do it for an hour or so after the game. This is not that difficult a problem to solve if they would just actually do it. Close 16th street to west bound traffic at Grand, use both north lanes to get people out of the stadium area. 2 lanes running up to grand and exit, 2 lanes running up to Duff and exit going either east or south. Not sure why off of 16 at Duff they do not allow you to turn south anyway instead of using only the right lane, and forcing the middle lane to go east, just allow both to either go east or south. That just moves the bottlenecks. University having a median screws stuff up. No medians and the ability to go all lane southbound after games would be ideal. North bound lanes go to 30 E and south bound 30 W would be great but would still create a massive headache at those ramps.
Public safety officer friend of mine says they will never close 16th and only allow traffic one direction because it makes too many homes inaccessible in an emergency. You need to do the same at Duff, put a cop there, and use the two lanes instead of only the right hand lane to turn south. I have heard the "emergency inaccessibility" reason before, and I do not buy it. There are few home off of 16th from University to Grand, and if there was an emergency situation, they could stop traffic to allow personal down there. The city just does not want to mess with it for some reason, and use the need for emergency accessibility as their response.Public safety officer friend of mine says they will never close 16th and only allow traffic one direction because it makes too many homes inaccessible in an emergency.
"Everyone thinks they have the best idea but the plans are laid out with public safety in mind, not getting everybody out as quickly as possible. I don’t care if you spend 15 minutes extra waiting. Our job is to make sure everyone gets home safely."
He agrees ISU sucks at putting a comms notice to let people know what the initial plans are for getting traffic out. He also said you can tell people whatever but they don't think the rules apply to them and they're special and won't follow them anyways.
