Is there a movie star that you really don't care for?

I never thought of it like that but you are correct.

Having said that Ferrell has some great movies and some terrible movies and some ok. Step Brothers and the Other Guys are great movies. He was ok in Old School. Anchorman is pretty good. Outside of those...
I like Will Ferrel a lot...but I agree with you! His best moments for me are the short cameo type appearances (Wedding Crashers/Starsky & Hutch)!

I'm a bit surprised by all the love for Step Brothers. I just can't conjure the suspension of disbelief required to make it work. I think later in the movie, it's slightly more tolerable and there are funny moments throughout, but the storyline and type of humor is mostly annoying to me.

The funniest concept of Step Bros. for me is how Adam Scott is the nerdy even keeled guy in Parks and Rec but goes so hard in the paint as the jack bag in SP.

I like everyone in the movie but the characters are pretty unlikeable and it feels like forced improv or Family Guy after the mid-2000s.

I feel the same about the Hangover.

It's almost funnier that they kept rolling with it than how it actually lands.

I remember when Anchorman came out saying this exact same thing. Anchorman certainly had it's moments, but to me Ferrell is so much better in the supporting/side role. He can be that crazy over the top character that doesn't get pushed over the top by being on screen the whole movie.

I will say I thought he did a good job in "The Other Guys" but even in that his character, to me, just got to be too much by the end of the movie.

Since back to back posts

He was a wacky comedy guy, then did some seriously good serious stuff, and now he is kind of everybody's dad, like you say. Tom Hanks Inc.

Money Pit is a good one, I liked Dragnet with Dan Akroyd too - forgotten underrated movie imho.
I think Dragnet for me anyway is more remembered for Aykroyd going all bizarro world with the Joe Friday character.

Bachelor Party is silly...but it is hilarious! Haven't watched it in years...wonder how I would feel about it now? There were some great lines in that film!

Ashton Kutcher.

Total douchebag. Tweeted support for Joe Paterno during the PSU scandal. Put on brown face to imitate an Indian man. Supported Danny Masterson, the rapist who drugged victims (along with his wife Mila Kunis). Plus he's a U of I dropout Hawk fan.
You forgot to edit in that he chose Iowa over ISU on gameday. That was him right? I think Eric Church did one and then who was the next? Maybe I'm wrong idk.

I like Will Ferrell as a general rule, however, he has some sh!t movies. Elf? I mean, come on. Blades of Glory? You've got to be kidding me. Step Brothers? Just shoot me.

He's pretty polarizing. I like him in several movies, and others not so much. Others may have differing views though.

The good: Stepbrothers, Anchorman, Taledega Nights, Old School, Wedding Crashers (lesser role),

Average: Elf, Daddys Home, Get hard, Other guys, zoolander, semi-pro

The bad: Night at the Roxbury, Superstar, Kicking & Screaming, stranger than fiction,

That settles it. No more movies unless they star Daniel Day-Lewis, Meryl Streep, Ian McKellan, Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Caine, Judi Dench or Alan Rickman's ghost

Johnny Depp - great actor, ****** person.

Ben Stiller - he's kinda funny but not a good actor. Not sure why but I just never liked him.

The rest of my list are all douchebags who have no acting talent whatsoever...
Ed Helms
Vince Vaughn
Ryan Gosling
Michael Cera
Jesse Eisenberg
Ben Affleck
Casey Affleck
Patton Oswalt
Nick Swordson
I don't mind Vince Vaughn. Rest of the list not much argument. Although, I do think Michael Cera's character in Superbad was solid from him.

The comedy guys can be polarizing, because many came from standup backgrounds to movies so most of them lack the pure acting talent.

Nope. Someone mentioned Michael Caine as horrible in this thread so try again. :)
