He's opening the doors to the public? Public is going to be all Badgers, will be minimal clapping for the good guys. Of course Lebron did the same, "taking my talents to South Beach" from a Cleveland gym I believe. Hope to hear, "taking my talents to Ames".
I went to Harrison Barnes commitment ceremony. As soon as he said "Coach Roy Williams" on Skype the crowd turned from mostly hyped to disappointed.

LeBron's Decision was in The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, Connecticut.

I was way off on that. Glad he did it there. Sorry Lebron for thinking ill of you 16 years later. Thought he was giving the finger to Cleveland doing "The Decision" in Cleveland.

I was there as well. I walked out asking myself why would he make such a huge production out of his announcement, hold it in ISU's backyard with hundreds of Cyclone fans in attendance, and then disappoint everyone there?

I never understood that either. It's fine if you chose UNC. However, you know by setting it up that way that you will be hated in your hometown. That made no sense.

Harrison has been extremely generous to Ames over the years since being in the NBA.
Tons of money, time, and signed memorabilia from him.

Could he have handled his announcement better, sure? But he's been a spectacular role model especially considering his dad is a well known former Cyclone who was by all accounts absent his whole life.

I had the same feeling at the time too. As time has gone on I've really eased up on my hatred of it all.
He was 17/18 and such a well known National player.

Sometimes I wonder more so what would have happened if he committed and McD still left/got fired.

He wanted a huge crowd in attendance as espn covered it…

He seems like a genuinely great guy, but nobody cares about him in his home state. I doubt people care much about him at UNC either. But he's got more money than 99.9% of us so I'm sure he doesn't care. Drying his tears with wads of cash.

I dont know if I'd say dont care, maybe just not a connection to him to the general public.
If your kid goes to Boys and Girls in Ames, Harrison has a big impact.
If your kid uses the Ames high gym, he gave hundreds of thousands.
If your kid uses the Miracle park, he gave hundreds of thousands.

A couple weeks back I went to a church charity dinner in Ames, and thought it was neat that Harrison donated a pair of shoes.

He's wealthy beyond words but also a generous guy that I'm really not mad at anymore

I'm not mad at him either. I'm just speaking from the perspective of a central Iowan who is into sports in general and consumes a fair amount of local and national sports news and basically none of what he does pops up on my radar. It's good to hear he is a charitable guy though, and not surprising.

Just got a fourth CB for the good guys from a Badger writer that is 122/122.

How does this work? Can somebody give a "crystal ball" pick a few hours before the announcement is made? Seems like it would need to be a bit in advance to be legit. After the guys who are really in the know start posting "crystal balls," it seems like anybody could just fall in line and do it without even knowing anything about the guy.

I would pay attention to our crystal ball guys. Our guys usually get inside info. The other teams that are not quite as involved are just trying to keep their Percentage high so they kind of follow in line, maybe have some inside info that the kid isn't coming to their school.

Been awhile since I’ve paid much attention to the 247 crystal ball stuff, but it’s always been my understanding they can change their prediction at the last minute. Not sure exactly when they are “locked in”, but they probably aren’t right now, yet. A perfect prediction history is likely due to some last minute switching when necessary.

I mean, none of them are really high confidence predictions yet. Busse is the highest, and he has the lowest prediction percentage out of the ones out there so far. I personally trust people with less than perfect records more at this stage. At least they seem to stick to their convictions.
