****Official Class Of 2027 Recruiting Thread****

I think because of money. Wondering if Nebraska can afford more than us in basketball. I know they can in football. I am not convinced on Ben being a great recruiter yet. So far he has been Fran like in his recruiting.
It'll be interesting to see where donors in Nebby allot their cash. I imagine football will always be king, but their volleyball support is really impressive.

McCollum has a 4 star transfer and two 4 star HS recruits coming in next season.

Ben is rarely gong to beat TJ head to head for a recruit if they aren't an Iowa legacy or have a strong Iowa tie. If they are a priority recruit for Iowa State they should just get used to coming in second at best.

Not sure how well this one is going to age for you. Coleman was a role player in the Valley and McKeever is a one trick pick and roll pony with pretty poor defensive number for a guy with his length. In all reality this hasn't been the portal season Iowa fans are gonna try to convince you of. LOL Coon is the exact same recruit Fran was brining in.

Sounds like they wanted McKeever pretty but I'm pretty sure Coleman was their 3rd-4th option.

**ducks**

I really like Coleman's game. If you don't watch a ton of Valley games, you don't realize how bad Pedon is at Illinois State plus he's absolutely in love with Jonny Kinziger which artificially limited Coleman's minutes.

I think he's a good get.

With you on McKeever. He's really tall and he's....fine? I guess. The physicality in the Big Ten has a chance to eat him up.

I can't have an objective opinion on Coon because of what an incredible guy his dad is and Jaidyn is a great kid as well.

I’d have no issue adding Coleman or a similar player. I bet the class works out for them. Ben’s a good recruiter in the sense of identifying talent he can use and having the pieces fit. But so was Fran to a large degree.

Can we say McC a good recruiter at the P6 level right now? He basically took his Drake team to Iowa City and was an meh 8 seed. I'll give him credit for developing Stirtz but not like he was completing with other schools for his commitment. I would like to see some more evidence this year, one where he should be selling the elite 8 team to get a better understanding of his recruiting. He missed on a number of their top transfer targets this spring but maybe he is able to coach up the fall back options.

In the pre NIL era, I think he would have struggled to adapt a lot, especially since he basically brought his attestants from D2 with him. In the modern day, I don't think recruiting connections matter as much.

Recruiting is being a GM now. Anyone that can shop the dollar store and put together a tournament team is a good recruiter.

Particularly for a program like Iowa. Fran, and likely Ben, are the type of recruiters you need at that place.
