Sounds like Swanson is sitting today because of glute injury in yesterday's gam. Counsell was optimistic, but we've heard that before. IMO Hoerner is OK at SS for a game or so, but not ideal if Dansby goes on IL.

I like this roster, but I'm not a huge fan of bench position coverage. Having Shaw helps position gaps. But not sold on Lopez and it would be great to have a platoon option for Busch at 1B in leverage situations.

I can't imagine an *** cramp takes a full day. Worried this one winds up being a hammy.

Feels a lot like when we went through injuries with Wood and Prior only it's Steele and Horton now. I hope this "setback" is nothing major and he's good to go for the 2nd half of the season but whenever you hear that word used with a guy coming off an arm injury you just fear the worst if you are a long time Cubs fan.

It is crazy how we are not even to May yet and we've pretty much lost count of how many guys have gotten hurt already. Yet somehow they are still hanging around and winning enough to stay in the race. Hoping we start getting a steady flow of guys returning soon and we can see what we really have now that we have a few guys starting to heat up on offense.

He should be good on Friday I believe. Sounds like there is hope that Palencia will be back for the DBacks series as well.

Good play there by the San Diego defense but this team still frustrates the hell out of me with the amount of runners left on base.

Ramirez is destroying AAA pitching. Would love to see him get a shot before the deadline to see if we need to go get another bat.
Can he play OF though because he's pretty much blocked in the infield and Mo is the regular DH. I've seen he's been killing it too and he was pretty good in spring training too but there is no path for him for an everyday role or even a regular utility guy with Shaw currently filling that role unless he can play a corner OF spot.

PCA....

Glad they didn't send PCA down to AAA like one poster was banging the table for...

They just put up a graphic that his average, OBP, walk rate are way up in the last 14 games. He then immediately goes deep for the second straight game.

With Steele out longer, Horton gone for the year+. Seems like a move for a SP is needed. Seems like we have some IF prospects with some worth that are blocked for the foreseeable future. Might be a good time to push chips in if they are good and can get more than a rental at the deadline.
