Milan Momcilovic tweets "entering NBA draft and portal"

Milan should get on a NBA contract as soon as he can so he gets to his second contract that much sooner. Milan will do well in the NBA. If Kyle Korver, Niang, and AJ Green can make 10's of millions, so can Milan. I think he will be in the NBA next year.

I just looked it up, Kyle Korver made $79 million in the NBA, and I think that is a good comp for Milan. And with the much higher salaries now, Milan will make well over $100 million if his shooting carries over to the "wave at you defense" of the NBA.
I think Milan has a similar path to the league as Green, he's just too good a shooter to not take a chance on but I don't really think MM has a similar game to any of the guys you named. Niang was a point forward in college and despite the narrative of him not being athletic was a much more dynamic athlete than MM, was more skilled and was better on the boards. AJ Green had guard skills that Milan doesn't have, Korver is kind of close but he was a much more dynamic offensive player , better defender and had proven himself as a post player on both ends in college (with the benefit of mid major competition). Milan is the best shooter of that bunch but our fondness for him and blinded us to some of his weaknesses. He's much more stiff and slow footed than even guys like Korver and Niang. It seems like you're comparing the NBA games of these guys to Milan's college game but all of those guys changed their game to make it. Can Milan? Sure but we didn't really seem him change much in college, he just got better at doing the same things. He could be a bit of a one trick pony, he's going to have to go all on on that one trick.

Luke Kennard is pretty much a one trick pony and has made a lot of cash in the nba

Well I guess this frees up like 3 million for us to go get a stud
I would guess that the money for Milan got mostly used up by the guys that just committed. I doubt we have a ton left. I would guess the conversation with Milan happened before we took all of the new guys this weekend. I wouldn't expect getting a big name at this point. Maybe another sub at most.

At the very least you gotta figure an NBA team will use a 2nd round pick on Milan thinking he'll be, at minimum, a 10-15 minute per game, second unit sniper. And if he shows he can pull that role off without a hitch, he'll make quite the bag in the NBA. I'm gonna guess there's no way he returns to college, and that outcome I'm more than OK with. Go get famous, Milan.

Milan must have gotten feedback that he’ll get a guaranteed contract or I think he would have come back. No chance he plays for a different school imo
I really really hope you are right…. I can’t stand the thought of him playing somewhere else next year….. cause you know what the ncaa will do ! They will set up a matchup with ISU and his new team in the 2nd round of the tournament !!

Nothing precludes him from coming back still. Really stupid that all of the logistics with this don't line up in a way that makes sense.

Like others said this is actually probably helpful to us.

If I were him I would just be planning to come back while still going through the process for more feedback, but get the goal to get to the NBA could be too enticing.

The logistics don't make sense because nothing about college sports make sense anymore. It made sense less than a decade ago because there was very little "testing the waters", and going pro, whether in the NBA, G-League, or overseas, would pay more than staying in college another year, and if you did decide to stay (or withdraw from the draft after "testing the waters") it would be because you would think you could improve your draft stock with the additional year, and usually you'd go back to the same school.

A decade later and none of that is true anymore - the state of the transfer portal today is more like practically every player is a free agent once the season ends and they can transfer any number of times they want, because now NIL exists and they can go to the highest bidder - and the payout now for staying an extra year is better than what you'd get with a 2-way deal in the NBA or overseas. But the logistics of declaring for the draft and the portal is aligned with the state of the game a decade ago.

Will some other school wait for him? It's foolish to wait in this era.
Curious if he will commit to a new school (hearing florida) while he goes thru this process so he has a chair when the music stops. Sounds like they are offering $5M and will wait on him

Crazy that Milan is doing exactly what I posted he should do back on Thursday…. and of course people said I was clueless. I forgive ya!!
Yeah, you're the only one who thought this would be the route he would take, the route he has to take.

Disappointed but we'll be alright. Milan has been a great Cyclone but maybe this will be a blessing for both sides. The positive I see from this is that maybe we can get more athletic up front now but obviously the dynamic shooting will be sorely missed. Bittersweet is the word that comes to mind.

If his focus is the NBA, why enter the portal? Jerk move towards Iowa State.
He'll likely get offered more money elsewhere, can't blame him really. Time to move on. I just hope he stays in the draft rather than seeing him splash threes like crazy with another college team.
