Thank you for your service Shadow

And they start counting the placement points when they can do no worse than that? For instance, a wrestler wins and now can do no worse than 8th place so he'll get 3 additional points for the team.

Yes. So the quarterfinal winners on Friday morning will get their advancement (1), any bonus, AND placement points (6) -- since at that point they can finish no lower than 6th.

And the blood round winners Friday night will get advancement (0.5), bonus, AND placement points (3) -- since they're guaranteed at least 8th.

And each round from there will have additional placement points available.

So a great round 1 would be something like we go 9-1 and get the 9 advancement points and an extra 6 bonus points for 15 total team points. Then we head into the round two bloodbath. If we get a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finisher with only wins by decision that would put our points total at 53 team points with all other wrestlers losing out. I think we do ALOT better than 58.5 team points just based off that quick math.

I love this coming Thursday and Friday with all the wrestling and basketball going on. I will say over the last few years with how much is going on at once in wrestling I focus so much more on that than the basketball games going on unless Iowa State is playing.

Looking at Friday does anyone have an educated guess as to what time the morning round will finish up? With Iowa State tipping off at 1:50pm it seems like a pretty good time where hopefully we are between rounds.

It'll depend largely on who (and how many) are in the consolation rounds.

Last year, ISU had four guys in that second consolation round of the session, and the last one finished around 2:45 CT.

In the projection I think that all of those points (58.5 for ISU) are for placement only. In your scenario for round 1 you added in bonus points as well. The team race can be decided on bonus points.

OK then it’s probably a fair estimate. Good point
