**** WBB Gamethread - #12 Iowa State vs. Mercyhurst 1pm ESPN+ ****

Talk about over correcting for last year’s schedule.

Probably a bit. Scheduling tough has never been our jam and some years that's okay if Iowa/UNI/Drake are fielding good teams. Our best games in NC are usually in league challenge games or tournaments or the Iowa universities. South Carolina and UConn last year were both "showcase" games we were invited to.

You can maybe make a case we don't need "challenging" in NC this year. We are starting a veteran squad of five juniors. And it's not like we open the conference on the road at TCU or something.

Thanksgiving will at least get us out of state and playing better known schools. Will be better viewing but not sure I am going to subscribe to yet another streaming service, FloHoops, to get the games.

I was thinking the same. I’ve heard the stream quality for Flohoops in the past was very bad. I will probably just listen on the radio.

Granted, those are like "home games" for UConn but those games are not "bought" directly like how Div 1 pays low level Div 1 cupcakes to come to their arenas. From what I found no one cuts either team a check except for expenses. The Big 12 got revenue sharing from the game last year and ISU got the PR and TV time even if it wasn't the outcome we would have liked. Same rules for all of the these showcase and NC tournament games.

This year Michigan took the deal and the Big 10 got the revenue share. South Carolina is the opponent for 2026.

The attraction is the PR and maybe a bit the revenue for the league. No idea the revenue generated but they are sellouts and on big TV. Big 12 certainly got a better share than the Flowhoop thing this coming weekend will provide.

Should be a good game to get the reserves some quality minutes.
Not so far:confused:

I know officiating is difficult but man the refs in WBB are bad. Addy got absolutely clobbered on her last shot attempt, right in front of the stripes, no call.

Looking pretty bad so far, but they shot wildly well to start.
