I had heard some time ago they were going to turn The Adventures of Dunk and Egg into a show, and it looks like it's coming out this January. Cool, new GoT series to watch to start the year!

I guess I am way behind since they released a trailer last month. Lol!

House of R (Ringer Podcast Network) did a deep dive on the trailer, tying it in with the novella. Warning, the podcast on the trailer is 50% of the minutes of the actual airtime of the entire series.

A 2 hour and 45 minute breakdown of a trailer! That's wild. Also, for anyone not familiar with the story there are going to be some spoilers in there I'm sure.

I believe they gave some spoiler warnings. I went and read the novella after listening to the pod. I’m sure it took me longer to listen to the pod than to read it :).

Those 2 are the best to listen to recaps of anything GoT related though. For House of the Dragon I think they’d do an episode reaction that was usually around 60 minutes, then release a deep dive later in the week that gets into the book lore. Those are always long.

I wasn’t one of the people that thought the last season/episode of GOT was a travesty. It was not great but not bad. But over time I’ve realized that last season killed my enthusiasm for anything GOT. I can’t bring myself to rewatch GOT or give a **** about anything else in that universe.

Mallory and Joanna are my go-to for recaps and deep dives on IP shows and movies. The length of the podcasts is a bonus.

I love the ASOIAF world. I'm excited for this show but I hope they have better pacing than HOTD season 2. That season felt like 8 episodes of filler that didn't advance the plot that much.

I’ve liked House of the Dragon. I know people were upset about how the last season ended. It would have been a fine episode 8(similar to most (GoT seasons), but the problem was it ended at 8 instead of having 10 episodes. Next season should start off pretty great though.

I still maintain the story ending was fine and could have been really compelling for GOT. But it had to be executed correctly and it wasn’t.

The last two seasons needed to be 10 eps each. The penultimate season needed to all be about the Night King’s march south and the finale or last two eps needed to be the battle. That battle needed to be absolutely epic (and have a lot more casualties to raise the stakes). Like Helm’s deep level. And it needed to plant the roots for Dany’s heel turn.

The last season should have all been about Dany’s heel turn and razing of King’s Landing. That plotline needed to play out a lot longer for it to be a.) believeable and b.) impactful on the audience. The Red Wedding’s seeds were planted early in the second season and was executed perfectly in season 3. This could have been too.

I was similar. I tried to rewatch S8 and just can't bring myself to go past Ep 2. Those last 4 episodes were rushed and full of poorly written scenes.

I never really cared to seek out HotD since I didn't have an ability to watch it. We got HBO Max shortly before S2 premiered and gave it a shot. S1 is a tough watch with the time skips, and S2 is a little uneven, but it has been mostly enjoyable due to the performances.

I think I'm mostly excited for this as the lone wolf and cub type stories are generally fun and crowd pleasing when done well. IMO some of the best storytelling in the GoT series was Arya and the Hounds travels together in season 4.
