Speed and vertical are great for a receiver

Combining WRs who have issues holding onto the ball with bad ball placement by the QB and this is what you get.

The most frustrating thing about it is, these guys are a lot of times open and sometimes wide open, and plays just aren’t being made.

Sometimes you just need guys who can catch a football.
Our wide receivers are just not upper crust big 12 quality. This is somewhat depressing to think about but then you consider all the guys we have put into the NFL recently. We're not Georgia and it makes sense we have a bit of rebuilding to do at WR. I generally really like Brett Eskildsen and think he's a playmaker.

Defensive line, LB (outside of Kooper Ebel), and WR is killing this team right now.

Gabe Burkel should also have his face put on a milk carton.

We might not be upper crust but when a player drops balls it's time to throw the ball to someone else.

Sowell had some drops but he was the only WR doing anything today. Brown's drop on that goal line pass is probably an indicator of his current ability level, sadly.

The headline in this thread reminds me of a Swedish car magazine. It is entitled the Swedish word for speed.

You must be related to Ebel if you think he’s playing even decent.

Ebel has been a plus. Is bacon even on the field? Yes he is, he’s exactly where the offense attacks every play.
Ebel is the tallest midget right now. He had looked better because he has the only NFL guy Infront of him. Hes the middle backer, remember when Barnes was talked about because he led the team in tackles? Bacon also a couple years ago. Kinda the position there. We gave up 300 yards rushing, the middle backer generally is the one who is the main run stopper.

lol. This off-season we were told we may have the best lber room in the big 12. And we were told to pony up cuz Rocco had the sec drooling.

How can we be so wrong? Is it the coaches?

There's a solution for this.

Who said this and why did anyone believe it?

I’m pretty certain these were central themes of the off season commentary.

From who though?

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the CF folks were saying something like that but I can't remember the last time I saw anything that was all that accurate in the long run.

It's boring to say 'let things play out' but that's more apt than 'I've heard X player is a human highlight reel in camp' or 'This team looked like a CFP or FF team early on' or whatever gets put out there.

Read what I’ve said since last season. I was hammering to NIL LBers. I’ve said for a couple years that our LBers are the weakest position on the team and was rode hard that I was wrong. So don’t try to ever say I thought this was a strong group.

One thing to learn about Campbell, the more he talks up a player or position, the more he is trying to talk it into existence.

Right? Anyone that listens to the propaganda coming out of the team or ISU-friendly media during the offseason or two-a-days is choosing to have sunshine pumped up their ass. I can't remember a single season in ISU history where their narratives have ever come close to reality.

Yeah I have no clue what you’ve been saying… but your second point is more clear than ever. Saying Rocco was spectacular yesterday? I hope he’s being truthful with the guys behind the scenes.

What's baffling is the linear connection.

Like CF staffer said this thing so it should just be so.

It's similar to 'well this player made 4 threes in a Feast Week tournament game so why can't that just be normal?' that will rear its head around here over the next few months.

That would have been Brown's first drop of the year, but the all too common penalty in the red zone would have negated his catch anyway. Between Sowell and Eskildson, they have to have at least 25 drops this year.
