Kempt, Montgomery, Lanning, Lazard, Butler, Ryen. What a game.
How Lanning did not win the win the Maxwell award as the best all around player that year was criminal. Guy not only was a starting LB, but came in playing QB scoring both running and passing repeatedly.
I was at the Drake game on Saturday and watch the 'dogs destroy Valpo. His play calling is so much better than what Drake had the past two seasons. Not sure how long he will be at Drake before he has an opportunity to move up.
They beat a very talented OU team. Mayfield, Mark Andrews, Cede Lamb, Hollywood Brown and I’m sure a few other studs. Crazy.
I think its underrated on how big of an upset that actually was. Kempt was a walk-on playing his first meaningful snaps at the collegiate level, and we didn't have Willie Harvey at linebacker that day. To me it was a bigger upset than the win against Oklahoma State.
And it was at OU
Just watching that game again made be appreciate Montgomery all the more. Also, Kempt’s accuracy in his first start was uncanny.
