K-State Podcaster Says Ames is Worst Road trip in Big 12!

Campustown, CyTown and Downtown would all exist successfully if there was more dense housing options near them (and not just luxury condos for donors who attend games). Look at the downtowns of many other college towns (including Lawrence, Lincoln, Iowa City) where there are condos built near...

Main Street in Ames leaves a bit to be desired too. Needs 2-3 more restaurants and a few more bars.

Ames has needed new leadership forever. It seems like every time another college town gets a new amenity that Ames should follow, our version is either half-baked or flat out not pursued.

He runs Go Powercat.com. He literally said he likes ISU fans and Ames is fine... just that he's been to too many cold games in Ames.

I really wish our fanbase would realize and accept that Ames is incredibly limited in terms of options for entertainment, and we are quite slow at getting certain food/drink establishments, but its not an indictment upon us as fans one bit.

Fitz is fun, and has been complaining to me about cold windy games in Jack Trice for 15 years now.

    Cytown Update

I still think they missed a golden housing opportunity. They needed to provide lower priced condos or apartments for full-time residents to frequent establishments on the main floors of buildings.

    What’s happening to Des Moines?

I'm looking to move downtown right now. Any apartment recommendations are appreciated.

Wouldn't that mean its not crowded anymore then if nobody goes on it?

    Cytown Update

I've probably said this in previous parts of this thread, but people really seem to forget how many students take the 23 bus from the lots there onto campus every weekday. A cafe and/or coffee shop at the north end near the Cyride stop would make a killing. If said cafe had good enough options...

I actually think a similar concept in that parking lot north of Kinnick would do well too, especially with the hospital right there for daily customers at restaurants and shops.

    Cytown Update

They'll have an issue with it, sure, but they're also not going to be able to seat everyone who wants to eat in their establishment on a gameday either. The best entertainment districts have a lot of food/drink carts on the big gamedays.

The Wallaby's owner hates the idea of CyTown to his core.
