    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

The sublicense deals are not "under market" when NBC is trying to unload a B10 CCG and CBS isn't happy with their deal as well. As Sports Media Watch correctly points out: "The report Thursday is just the latest indication that the Big Ten media rights deal has not gone quite as planned. With...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Not sure why you suggest that (actually I know why but won't get into that now). Been pointed out multiple times here that the B12 has a great opportunity to engage with one and/or the other when their contract expires. Even better if they can pool with the ACC in doing so. NBC and/or CBS...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

As previously discussed in this thread, CBS and NBC (both under new ownership) are highly unlikely to engage with Fox on anything close to the existing terms when the current B10 deal runs out. Both got effed over by Fox in the last deal with CBS attempting to further sublicense the games they...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

SMU is in a conference with P4 teams to play. Big difference between their situation and what an ACC member would have to go through.

It's my understanding Fox would have to be bought out. And the buyout where Fox is removed as the rights holder would be highly complicated with BTN and either shuttering it or transitioning it to new ownership. Last I read, the arrangement is in perpetuity until there would be a buyout.

Where did you come up with that regarding Fox? I have seen nothing which suggests that. Now if that actually does occur and I doubt it does, the B10 would certainly benefit with pooling of their media rights.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

You are kind of contradicting yourself here. Fox orchestrated PAC destruction with one possible exception, they were forced to pay full shares to both USC and UCLA for political reasons. And they only offered enough money for half shares to Oregon and U-Dub; that wasn't a B10 call. And of...

Not really, House will be codified as well which also enable enforcement of it with subpoena power. And the pooling provisions will enable more market negotiating leverage for the B12, especially if they pool with the ACC (at a minimum).

Disagree on that. That is a highly onerous penalty on several counts (media payout cuts, exit fees, finding teams to play for all sports, etc.) over 5 years. A B12/ACC merger with realignment into 3 conferences would be a more favorable solution both financially and competitively.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

A merger without expansion of the existing 33 would likely be permitted. And it should be permitted giving PCSA media rights pooling provisions and rational realignment into 3 11-team conferences. Add in unequal revenue sharing based on TV ratings/CFP success and deeper pocketed new TV...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Sure but five years of independence (presumably for all sports) is a very real hurdle to go through to qualify. The likes of Miami are better off merging the ACC and B12 and engaging new TV partners (I.e. Paramount/Amazon) with rational realignment amongst those 33 schools and reducing the...

Weird and onerous conditions for additional ESPN/Fox brand consolidation:

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Yeah, I have got plenty of prior corporate business experience and the sublicensing done with B10 rights (to Fox’s benefit), CFP rights (to ESPN’s benefit) and B12’s rights (to ESPN’s benefit) doesn’t happen with the NFL who pool all of their rights, don’t have sublicensing of rights, and don’t...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

LOL at the “B10 got it right” hot take. Fox got it right with their sublicense deals with NBC and CBS to offset what they pay to the B10 as 100% rights holder. But you are correct that the NFL does things right with multiple rights holders all having access to premium brands and post season...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

LOL, you still childishly think this is about Campbell when it’s about what’s best for ISU and you’ve made it clear as a Purple Hawk that you don’t want what’s best for ISU. You can go eff yourself with Sparty.
