Don't have one of those but watched a youtube vid of a carrot harvester that would dig the carrots, remove the tops, peel the skins and wash, and sort to size all in the field. I told my wife if I ever won the lottery I'd buy one and plant about 15 feet of row just to show my buddies how it works! -

The issues you have with your tree are self inflicted. By description it sounds like your tree had a double leader. Peach trees should be pruned so they form three or four scaffold branches with the center left open or can be allowed to grow and form a second set of scaffolds above the first...- cydnote
