    Walked into a bar

Three golf clubs leaned into a bar. Bartender said, “What’ll it be?” Wedge said, “Gimee a beer.” Putter said, “Same for me.” Bartender asked the third club, “How about you?, and he replied, “I’ll have a glass of water.” “Just water?” asked the bartender. “Yeah, said the club, “I’m the driver.”

    What's streaming that's good TV/movies

Recommend Song Sung Blue on Netflix. Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. Story is about a hard scrabble guy singer/interpreter of Neil Diamond who makes it in Milwaukee and his girlfriend/muse.

    Your Biggest "Coincidence"

Visiting my in-laws in Tucson, AZ, met their neighbor who had grown up in the house where we lived.

    Viking cruise

A few years ago we cruised the Mediterranean on one of Oceania’s “small” ships. Absolutely top drawer IMO, and very accommodating of older clientele, but not limited to older folks. Very good food, no formal attire required. Amenities included a nice little library (in which I discovered Dennis...

    Why is life worth living?

Sixty-odd years ago as a pre-teen I found my dad’s revolver in his closet. Whatever the reasons at that age/time, I loaded the gun and considered doing myself in. Ultimately I resolved that whatever was troubling me, there were still tomorrows when if I was so inclined, I could still do that...

    What's streaming that's good TV/movies

Recently I’ve been enjoying Man on Fire and Dark Winds on Netflix. Other Netflix my wife and I enjoyed include Grantchester, The Residence and Bridgestone. The three seasons of Night Agent were good. Ted Danson’s Man on the Inside was a hoot. Black Rabbit, The Lincoln Lawyer - other than when...

Do you still listen to music from your high school years? Neural Nostalgia

I’m older than most posters in this thread. Growing up I shared a bedroom with my 6-year older brother who had a record collection of 45s from the late ‘50’s through ‘62 that he won in poker games from the son of the local radio station owner who paid his losses with “liberated” records. When...

    What's everyone reading?

Just finished ‘A Painted House’ a different kind of John Grisham book. As usual with Grisham, the setting is the Deep South. The story told from the perspective of a 7-year old boy who witnesses things and carries a lot of secrets. Published in 2000 I think. Recommend.

    What's everyone reading?

I’ve read Evans, but his books seem to have disappeared from my library. In the same vein, I recommend Ray Bradbury’s ‘Fahrenheit 451’, written and published in 1953 during the McCarthy era, which ended in 1954 with McCarthy’s censure. I think these are correlated.

    What's everyone reading?

I read the Wheel series maybe a decade ago. While I enjoyed it, I came around to thinking maybe Jordan had pasted and copied paragraphs from one book to another. Currently I’m reading a different kind of John Grisham novel: “A Painted House”. The story is set in 1952, told from the perspective...

    2026 investments

I have done pretty well in this space over the past few months with: HWA, GE, RYCEY, RTX, BAESY, STX and SAABX. Maybe wait for dips? More European than U.S. defense.

K state game Feb 1 rollcall

Racist screeds such as this have no place in civil discourse. The author, “Hawk Hater” should be banned.

WTF??? With that broad brush, I hope no one relies on you for detail work of any kind.

We got a great deal on a TV today from Travis Audio. Our salesperson, Jeff, said they’ve reached retirement age and are shutting the doors in December.
