    Mosquitoes

    Definitely use a lawn fogger before using the outdoor area. I find that stuff works well when doing gardening stuff, also. But for patio/deck areas, still have a citronella candle lit to keep those who escape the mist away.

    Love watching Carleton play here. Seems like she's been able to find the next level after going to Portland. This is actually an entertaining game to watch (plus watching Indy get clobbered so far doesn't hurt).

    The dark horse triumphed. I personally liked the Aussie entry, BUT I felt it lacked a distinct hook to make it more memorable. Honestly, most of the entries left me feeling "meh, next". It wasn't the best year, imo.

    Eurovision has produced only a handful of hits that connected in the U.S. Just six songs (of ANY entry, not just contest winners) have made Billboard's Hot 100 top 40. Ever. Including Abba's "Waterloo" and Gina G's "Ooh Aah (Just a Little Bit)".

    I love it when people/teams hate to come to Ames to compete. If they hate being here, that's an advantage to us. As for the 'cold', boo-freaking-hoo. We have to live in this crap. YOU can get over it.

    There was only one we didn't know. I don't even remember what it was, other than a super high screeching voice that none of us recognized (maybe song #8?). We were hoping for a good music round. That's always been our go-to. LaBelle (the group) did Lady Marmalade. Honey was Mariah. :)

    The Beatles opened for Brenda Lee in Germany in 1962. I think I remember hearing they were fairly big for a while. Nice to know Paul McCartney had a decent gig before Wings. ;)
