Pac 12 to split with Larry Scott

The newest article pushing the Pac 12 to poach Big 12 teams now that they have a new leader. There's so much to disagree with in this article, I don't even know where to start. Situation might be different in the next year or two, though. But something to chew on (and roll your eyes at)...

She did lead Cal to the Final Four in just her second year at Berkeley, so I would expect Gottlieb to have success at USC as well.

    Friday OT #1 - It's a Half Life

Half a lifetime ago, I had just decided to abandon northern California and return to Iowa for a variety of reasons. The main goal was to finish college and find a real job. I remember how easy the decision was when I decided to make the move, which I'm guessing means I truly was fed up with...

    Tom K. Retiring

As someone who has had the good fortune to occasionlly work with Tom over the past decade+, I can say he will be missed. For all he did and all he knew, there is no replacing him. There will only be a successor (no offense intended to that individual!). Best wishes to Tom for a great retirement!

Friday OT #1 - When the Record Player Get to Skipping

I still listen to CDs and vinyl. Probably don't have any music-related technology newer than ten years old (have an iPod nano or shuffle or something that I use when I fly). I'd lose bluetooth earbuds almost instantly. I literally signed up for Spotify just last week so I can listen to what I...

WBB: Way too early 2022 Bracketology

Yeah, I think we can wait for the coaching carousel to stop turning and most of the players in the portal to land someplace before we start taking any projections seriously.

That same Twitter account is saying Mulkey will be introduced as the new LSU wbb coach on Monday. if accurate!

work-from-home boom will lift productivity in the U.S. economy by 5%

Working from home sucks. I'm only able to do maybe 10% of my job from home. It's fortunate that I only have to do it every other week. I can't wait until I never have to work from home again.

Friday OT - Free For All

I'm so tired of it being stuck in the 50s for high temperatures. Not fair to give us a taste of warm weather around Easter, then take it away for *weeks* after! The end of the two week forecast has it finally inching back into the 60s.

    Ames Living. Apartments?

There are a number of apartment complexes that won't rent to undergrads. The couple near the research park as already mentioned, and one just behind the north Fareway grocery store - I have known a couple different people who live(d) there and they all really liked the complex (plus the actual...

WBB: Miscellaneous Thread for 2020-21 Season

She started 10 of 16 games this past season, averaging 22 minutes a game. Her scoring average was 5.3, rebounding was 2.9. She had 22 blocks. FG%: 36.4, FT%: 80, 3pt%: 33.3. Not too bad for a freshman campaign. Plenty to work with for growth with this program, in my opinion. Welcome aboard!!

Friday OT #2 - When You're On A Golden Sea

I use this location every time there is a question along this line: Sea Ranch, California. It's small, it's isolated away from urban congestion, the weather is (for me) ideal - cool and breezy, surrounded by redwoods on one side, ocean on the other, and unique architecture. 100 miles north of...
