2" in Ames. Sump basin has water in it for just the third time since we bought our house 5 years ago. I'd say we are full now

As well as another point I didn't mention, it's been really hot the past month which increases evapotranspiration even more. The crops are working hard to keep cool between those rains pushing that daily utilization rate even higher.

Agree, we are full. And now that we are pollinated the usage rate will start to fall off a bit as well. If we can make it through tonight it looks like a good stretch to dry out

A few factors - Our soil profile was still pretty dry after 3 years of drought. Quite a few water holding reservoirs were still low. The largest in my opinion - Most of the large rains have come after late June when the crops are large and utilizing a lot of water daily - 0.25" or more at times...

Sounds like will be rolling through Ames between 1 and 2. Is tracking towards the southern end of the severe risk area which puts central Iowa more in the target. Hoping it loses quite a bit of steam by then.

Was planning to overseed my lawn this fall. That would be just my luck that it rains every damn week all summer then turns dry for fall.

Wow, I guess we lucked out in Ames. Looked like the storms were moving mostly North to South so I'm surprised Ankeny got hit that much harder. We had about 0.6" and some wind, but nothing I would consider notable.

Should I replace furnace and AC together?

Unless you're actually close friends with the the person moonlighting, these relationships seem to be getting harder and harder to find. I think those folks are getting paid well enough these days that they're less willing to risk losing their job for the side income. Additionally, the folks...

Should I replace furnace and AC together?

At 30 years of age I would just do both. Chances are you'll get a better deal and could end up replacing the furnace next year anyway. Only thing I can guarantee is you will NOT get another 30 years out of the new units

    2025 field work

Doesn't seem out of line to me for that package. Is that ground application or plane? Was visiting with a producer near Lenox on Monday, who was quoted $57 per acre for a similar package by plane and $45 by helicopter. About fell out of my chair at the plane price

Gave up on powder years ago and switched to cream. Less mess, same effectiveness.

    In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

We honestly need to try Sweet Caroline's again. We went a couple times in the first year that they opened and everything was so slow that we kind of crossed it off our list. I don't mind Wallabys but it doesn't really give off sports bar vibes to me, even though I know that's what they classify...

Yes, but I don't really have any interest in eating there. Bad barbecue and a horrible owner.

    In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

Based upon some Facebook sleuthing, it appears to be another mexican themed restaurant. They're becoming about as bad as auto parts and mattress stores. Was really hoping for another solid sports bar that could replace WTP. Basically down to just Boulder and BWW in town now and neither of those...
