    In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

A Buc-ee's in the Des Moines area would be a total game changer. Hopefully they will be looking to move into Iowa in 28/29 time frame. They have one in Springfield MO, and building one on the Kansas side of KC by the race track and where the Chiefs new stadium will be. They just announced...

    $60 Million Sharing Cap

Never get through congress or the IRS. Not saying it shouldn't happen, but never will. Schools athletic programs are part of the school, and since the university is a non profit, going to be very difficult to break that away.

    Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

You get to manager level at most of their stores and you are making very nice money and profit sharing. Bonus based on the amount of sells and if the store is paid off. Department managers also do very well, but are always at the threat of getting a new manager that you just cannot get along...

    $60 Million Sharing Cap

How are you going to tax college teams, the stadiums and arenas owned by the university, therefore tax exempt. The media deals would also fall under that same system, unlike professional sports the athletes are not being paid by the university, so they are not paying SS and other taxes on them...

Caseys will be fine, their strength is in small towns that brands like QuiK Star will never move into because of lack of traffic flow. Lots of those smaller town stores are complete dumps, but it's one of the few places that you can get gas, hot food and beer without driving 15 to 20 minutes...

    $60 Million Sharing Cap

Fine, $60 million cap, now let's talk how is this money going to be policed to make sure schools do not go above the cap. 1. Every athlete signing a NIL, play for pay contract that specifically points out the money they are due and when. 2. All "contracts" are submitted to a body to make sure...

Wife and daughter both love them some 7 brew, it's not so much coffee people are buying, its energy drinks loaded up with caffeine. The wife will get a large lemonade and pour it into her insulated tumbler and sip on it all day long. I give them 3 to 5 years and when the craze is over, they...

The Quik Star on the corner of Grand and 16th is flying up, went by there a couple of weeks ago and they were doing earthwork, went by yesterday and the building is up, all the gas pumps are in and they are pouring concrete for the pumps and driveway.

    Looking for a New Mattress

You have a 100 night guarantee with sleep number and they do have a lot of sells to purchase them cheaper. A quality bed is something that should last 15 years, and are worth the money, in my opinion.

    Looking for a New Mattress

Look at the sleep number, the beds themselves are not that pricy it's when you get the frame that adjusts up and down that costs really add up. We have the series 8 bed, that allows each side to adjust their own personal level of softness. I prefer a harder bed, while the wife prefers a...
