Perhaps you’re too young to remember, but Royce was better with the ball in his hands. Basically a point-forward with a 35% assist rate. And more athletic. And bigger. There’s a reason why he was a top-40 recruit out of high school, had a UK offer as a transfer, and a 1st Round pick

Jefferson isn’t as talented, but could play better under this staff due to being more coachable
Jefferson really needs to improve his handle and decision-making to reach Royce level. Not saying that he can't but some on here might forget how good Royce was. Forget about opinions on him post Iowa State but when he said "I'm the best f***ing player on the floor" against Anthony Davis and Kentucky in the tourney, he was right

It's really for all of your recent comments saying Mason Williams will be better than Cujo. Curtis Jones might be a top 20 player in the COUNTRY this year and singlehandedly won us 6-7 games in the middleof the year when everyonewas playing terrible. Give the guy some respect. You're being preposterous saying Williams will be better.
With great programs and great coaches, great players come and go.

I have seen it for years with Iowa State football. Some fans are insufferable. Zero chance we can sustain after losing Lazard and Butler. David Montgomery was a program changer we arent going to be able to replace that. We are losing Breece Hall, Brock Purdy and Mike Rose? Its all over. Cant replace two NFL receivers in Higgins and Noel.

CuJo probably one of my top 5 or 6 favorite clones ever. He was an absolute stud. I give him all the respect. Wont ever touch an NBA roster though. He isnt irreplaceable.

You kinda went off on a tangent talking about football and replacing players. Of course guys come and go and points can be replaced but your exact quote was Mason Williams will go down as the best transfer in the Otz era. I'm saying relax

Alright. Ill be one of the people saying all our recruits are unimpressive and we missed our opportunity to take the program to the next level. Better?

Why are you dissing his opinion? None of us predicted Curtis would rise to the levels he did, even half-way through his first season here. Frankly, I hope he is right and give him props for putting it out there! Heaven knows there are some on this board who will hound him if it doesn't happen.

Buddy, he doesn't have to be the best ever and he doesn't have to be terrible. I also believe he'll be good but there is no doubt you're reaching hyperbolic levels by watching a highlight tape

I got absolutely drilled on here years ago for saying Lipsey would be a better player than Tyrese Hunter. I remember some posters on here thinking it was time to cancel the basketball program when we lost Tyrese to the portal.

I will forever be an "optimistic" Cyclone. Hell, when I was a student, we absolutely sucked at Football (Criner era), but I still thought we could win every game, and we were good at basketball, (Johnny Orr era) and I thought we should win every game there as well. I always appreciate the athletes that choose to be Cyclones, and frankly have a hard time understanding why anyone wouldn't want to be a Cyclone! Some of the younger posters on here don't understand when it was really hard to be a Cyclone! Live too far away to have BB tix, but have had season FB tix for a long time. I don't understand the chicken little "sky is falling" and incessant need to be right of some posters on this board.

I was there during Duncan & Criner years as well.
We're not Cyclone fans cuz it's easy, we're Cyclone because it's Awesome!

I say we let a couple of the younger football DB's, LB's practice with the BB squad, part time is OK. First B12, or better yet, a P2 game, send one of 'em in at the 10' mark (1st and 2nd halves) and allow them to give a 'very hard' foul to the opposing teams top NIL getter and leading scorer. Not trying to kill the guy, but a hard foul, above the knees, below the head, follow the rules.

Maybe this will equalize things. I'm just thinking outside the box. A little.

I really hope there are regulations soon. Lipsey, Mason, Milan, Jefferson, Buchanan is a downgrade starting 5 from last year. Unfortunately we just don’t have the money to have certified bench players (see the elite 8 teams).
JJ, Milan, and Tamin are a year older, Tamin will be healthy (crossing fingers) and I think Batemon or Toure have higher ceilings than Gilbert. I'm not saying they will be as good as freshmen as Gilbert was last year, but I think they can step up and contribute as freshmen. Buchanan isn't the same type of player as Jackson was, but I think he'll contribute just as much. I think a starting five of Tamin, Batemon, Milan, JJ, and Buchanan next year can be better than this year's starting five.

RW - 6' 8" 260 lbs
JJ. - 6' 8" 255 lbs
Both very talented for that size.

Not to derail the convo but Heupel called his bluff
I love it...

Agrees, but there will always be someone else in the SEC or Big 10 willing to pay his revised asking price.

I remember RW really well. Still one of my favorite Cyclones to watch of all time. I understand Jefferson isn’t the same athleticism. I’m not even saying the same style as RW because RW was a downhill get out of my way type of player and Jefferson is more finesse. I just mean Jefferson taking the ball down the floor more and facilitating. I’d like to see him more as a point forward. I’m 38 years old tomorrow btw so definitely old enough to remember lol

Did I miss something and you actually have some sort of crystal ball that can predict how much impact a player is going to have on a team? Your statement is just as preposterous as the statement you are condemning.
