Hope it's wrong but if it's true then what's the point in being a fan? No other sport on the planet operates this way. Just make them employees already and get them on contract. Why don't we want them to be employees exactly? Everything's already fckd up beyond recognition might as well go all in.
You still need someone with teeth to enforce anything that's worked up contractually. NCAA athletics is a willy nilly free for all that will destroy everything but the richest of universities.

I hope I’m wrong, but I’m hearing Jefferson got offered 3 million from another school and heading is their way. Not sure who the school is (LSU most likely), came from a very credible source. If true, I may be done with college athletics!!
You didn't know we live in an era of free agency in college sports and we're a "small market" team?

I noted at the time it’s easy to say I’m all in after a tough loss. After some reflection and a $2-3 offer, makes that decision a bit more difficult. It’s not a question of loyalty. It’s doing right for yourself. He put in the work. He should reap the reward. But, the portal giveth and taketh away I guess.
I totally understand that if true 3 million would make you evaluate your options. But don’t come out and say 100 percent committed. He’s young and probably just said something off the cuff but your word is your bond. At least that is what my father taught me. I wish the young man nothing but the best going forward if this is true. Disappointed yes but I do understand.

I don’t remember which coach I saw an interview with but they said these numbers are bad because a lot of these players will be getting more than they will the rest of their lives. That it’s not good to peak out at 20-22. Can cause money issues down the road because they may expect to be in that ballpark annually and then never get close again. Made sense to me.
Meh, I would have been good at peaking in my 20s with those numbers, then get a normal job you enjoy till you retire comfortably in your 50s or early 60s.

well it seems like no one wants to take our 200k? to play here? Do we have to wait until some of the lower level players start jumping ship from smaller schools to replace our two starting bigs?

Man, numbers like that honestly can't blame anyone for jumping at that. Hope there are some regulations soon as this is nuts
Wait until you hear the "loyalty* b.s. from some people on here. I went to the grocery store today and spent 200$ on basically nothing, and people criticize young kids for leaving to make millions. Some people live in some kind of complacent "la La Land".

If you have a base that high your options are second to very few.

Guys where are you hearing this? LSU fan sites don't have a peep about this. If it's, "a done deal" and people know about it here, they'd know about it at LSU.

I doubt they have all that much interest in basketball and it's probably nothing compared to the types of money they've thrown around for football players.

And no offense to Jefferson because he's very talented but it's not like it's Cooper Flagg making the move.

I was never going to believe Jefferson was staying here until I saw him come out of the tunnel for the first game this year.

He is SERIOUSLY talented IMO…. NBA level talent with the right coaching. I will be pleasantly surprised if he remains a Cyclone, but wouldn’t ever predict it.

I disagree. Long shot to make the NBA which is why if he does truly have a huge offer I can’t blame him for taking it, even though it would absolutely suck.
