While I don’t doubt some schools have significant NIL money dedicated to WBB, I still am very doubtful about the amount that often gets stated.
Women athletes’ NIL is often driven by their social media following and marketability as a model. Livvy Dunn is the top NIL earner, not because anybody cares about LSU gymnastics, but because of her following and she is pretty. I think WBB is far closer to the spirit of the original NIL idea.
I would be pretty surprised if any of the transfers we’ve had were driven primarily by NIL offers.
As for Crooks and Brown, the teams that have the NIL money (SCAR, UCONN, LSU, and a few other) probably feel that they have better players than them.
