Cytown Update

Can someone explain how the Clinic fits in in relation to the original plan for Cytown? This appeared the week before finals week.

Kinda wild there's going to be a closed (presumably?) medical clinic in a prime spot in an entertainment district on gamedays but I guess they were the main "anchor" tenant that allowed CyTown to get off the ground in the first place.

I would think this would be a great asset to the athletes in the department all the days of the year. The clinic will hopefully have facilities that can get injured athletes in for XRays/MRIs/rehab.....etc.
CU has a an amazing facility right in Folsom Field. The Drs are connected with many of the teams here in the area (Avs/Nuggets/Buffs/Pioneers) as well as professional skiers/cyclist/runners.

Yes, I know we have trainers and some great facilities, but as someone that was a former athlete, and is now getting help at this facility, I can see how it would be a huge benefit for the staff/department.

No doubt it's great for the AD and will bring in people all year to the development, just sort of unfortunate it's in a prime spot but it is what it is. Hopefully student athletes don't get hit by cars walking across the street to the medical clinic lol.

Pretty sure there is a med clinic anchoring Title town too, which is the inspiration for CyTown.

was just in titletown last month and, imo, Hinterland, Kohler hotel, sled hill / playground are more of the "anchors" for Titletown

but yes, your point stands that titletown is inspo and they have a med clinic in their development

The district isn’t just for game days. Different businesses help attract customers to the area for different reasons at different times.

Yes, but in accordance with the original depiction of Cytown the clinic isn't there, but not depicted in the billboard at the corner of University and Jack Trice way.

Should be a benefit for everyone. I don't know where all the options in Ames are for things, but if they had an urgent care and I lived near Ames, i'd probably choose that one.

Think of all of the Hok fans that will require first aid and getting their stomachs pumped every other year.

What's more important, a destination tenant for maybe 60 days a year.

Or a destination tenant for 250-300 days a year? That compliments those other 60 days.

Like I said I'm all for the McFarland Clinic, I just think it's not in an ideal location. That said it sounds like this whole development wouldn't have happened without them so it is what it is. I'm still optimistic about the whole thing. Excited to see more renderings after this BoR meeting.
