Let's take a step back to just a few coaching generations ago, which was pre-internet, pre-iphone, pre-apps, pre-TV conference contracts etc, and think about the content that is now available to anyone who wants it, if you're a fan of college bball.
*Every P4 game is on tv/internet
*You can listen to your local radio game broadcast no matter where you live, from a device in your pocket
*If you're not watching live, you have access to real-time stats on a device in your pocket for every game
*If something amazing/funny/controversial happens, video is available immediately and viral on social media
*Every pre-game/post-game interview/press conference with players/coaches from both teams is online
*If you miss all of that, a dozen college basketball specific podcasts then analyze everything daily either that evening or early next morning.
*If you don't like any of those national podcasts, then (in our case) CF/Iowa everywhere cover it within 24 hrs
*A gazillion websites then have rankings, takes, and takes on others rankings
*Multiple sophisticated statisticians have quantitative rankings that are then updated nearly real-time, and discussed daily on the same podcasts/websites/youtube etc.
*There's 30+ bracket projections available, again, updated daily
(And then someone goes to an anonymous internet fan forum to complain about "bias" or "production quality" or which highlights are shown on cable tv. I find that hilarious.)
We live in incredible times if you're a sports fan - the amount of information and content that is being generated 24/7 for a single sport is amazing! I have zero complaints -it's all awesome to me.
