***OFFICIAL CFP Rankings Show Watch Thread***

Agreed but last 3 games they have outscored their opponents by 112 points. These members aren't watching full Tulane games or any at all, the box score looks great.

And are knock is, who is our best win? 7-4 iowa or Baylor?

It that matters they should have dropped Boise for hardly scoring any points against 2-9 Wyoming and trailing in 4th quarter.

I’m not asking ISU be put in top ten. I’m asking ISU be above a team with the same record whose SOS is 40 spots worse and is 0-2 vs p4.

They were discussing this on Big 12 radio and claimed basketball does it one way and football the opposite way. Claimed football is based on the final ranking which is yet to come.
Well, to be fair to this conversation, there really are no rules anymore when it comes to how the media and the decision-makers evaluate our Conference.

Yep, there’s no defined metric for “ranked wins.” Heck, there’s no defined metric for “eye test” or “data points” or “who would be favored on a neutral field“ or even, as we can see, “which 9-2 records are actually better than other 9-2 records.”

It’s literally ALL subjective, which means the committee creates the narrative they want.

Somebody on here just said Tulane is good because they’re blowing g out bad teams.

Has anybody watched Miami? They’d have 3 losses with decent replay review. If it’s about style points drop them down to around 15th.

But @ Wyoming is a hard place to play! / sarcasm

I looked up the Committee this morning, and there is quite a bit of G5 representation from Navy, Miami (OH), Ohio Univ. Nevada, etc. I only saw two with any real connection to the Big XII (Ariz. State A.D. and a Baylor Academic). Jim Grobe also once coached at Baylor for a minute, but he is more aligned with Ohio Univ. (MAC) and Wake Forest (ACC) than Baylor. The Head Goober in Charge is the Michigan A.D. There is also plenty of B1G and ACC connections. Not as much SEC as I would have thought. Arkansas A.D. being the most prominent. So, the fix is in for sure. You know what, I don't care?

I already know that Iowa State is not going to be a heavy hitter in the N.I.L. world. The Big XII has a few schools that will be, but most will not. I defintiely love the new Big XII and just hope that ISU remains one of the top football programs. So, let's concentrate on beating K-State, winning the Big XII Championship and let the rest work itself out. If it means a trip to the Alamo Bowl as the Big XII Champion, let's "Remember the Alamo!", kick arse and finish 11-2. It's bad enough being hosed from Fiesta BYE, but being the 12 seed as Big XII Champ is almost as bad as being left out entirely.

So, I am Thankful today that I am a Cyclone, that the Cyclones are in a great conference that I like and one of the better Football, MBB and WBB programs (+ the other stuff too). I am just going to be the best Cyclone that I can be.

Let's Go State!
Beat the Purple Kitties!
Win the Big XII!

Exactly. I would bet a huge sum of money that ISU would have Boise’s record with their schedule and that Boise would have more than 2 losses with ISU’s schedule.

A 2-loss Big 12 champ should almost always be above a 1-loss G5 team when that G5 team has ZERO marquee wins.

Iowa State needs to handle their business. If they beat K-State and win the Big XII Championship, I will be happy whether they make the CFP or not. That being said, the four most important games left are:

Memphis @ Tulane
Tulane vs. Army @ TBD

Oregon State @ Boise State
UNLV / Col. State @ Boise State

If Tulane loses a game, the Big XII Champion will defintiely make the CFP.

If Boise State ALSO loses a game, the Big XII Champion should get the Fiesta BYE.

If Boise loses but Tulane wins out, who knows? UNLV will be 11-2 with a Win @ Kansas-*!

So, in order of importance,
Go Memphis!
Go Army!
Go Oregon State! and
Go Colo. State / UNLV!

*-Kansas MUST be destroyed after Tulane and Boise go down!

Ummm the way it has literally always worked - in both college football and basketball - is IF you beat a team that is RANKED the day you play them, then yes, it is counted as a ranked win. We beat #20 Iowa in Kinnick earlier this year. Yeah, that was (and still is) a ranked (and great) win, for ISU and the Big 12.
Agreed but I believe the CFP now uses end of season rankings.

Well that’s the way it works? Do you think teams should get credit for beating a team just because they were ranked at some point?

I guess this could work once the cfb playoff rankings are out, might make a little sense then and would fix some of the preseason ranking issues.

Well, yeah - because K-State isn't Missouri... who has been a joke of a football team all year, and, despite getting beat by South Carolina MAINTAINED their 23rd rank in the CFP poll. Not that I had much by that point, but that was where I lost all faith in the CFP committee.

My Biggest Question about this is:

Did Heather Dinich get permission from the University of Iowa to wear Hawkeye colors on National TV!?

Tulane is above big 12 teams with the same # of losses. Its absurd.

Well Tulane is currently losing, so that is no longer a worry.

I don't have a huge problem with Boise's ranking.

I have a huge problem with Clemson and Tulane's rankings
It’s scary Tulane could be ranked ahead of any big 12 team with 2 losses. They going to lose tonight but holy hell how did that happen.

Another example of the committee not understanding the game which they are ranking teams in. Tulane at 17. Lol. **** you.

Feels like it happens every year. A few G5 teams rise well above where they should be simply because they're winning in bad conferences.
