2 guys named Chris has had several conversations about how Iowa's schedules being harder makes it harder for them to get to the playoffs going forward and I think they were wrong on two counts.
1) Iowa (and Indiana's) schedule this year shows that from time to time, you're still going to have years where the schedule isn't all that difficult
2) more importantly, I think they have a fundamental misunderstanding of what it takes to make the playoffs. They're too worried about losses and not focusing enough on wins. So yes, only playing Ohio St makes the schedule easier, but it also puts way more importance on that game than if you also played Penn St and Indiana.
Georgia this year had one of the toughest schedules in the country so even at 10-2 they are a lock to make the playoffs even though they got whooped by Ole Miss. Texas this year had a relatively easy schedule but they better hope they beat A&M because their 10-2 isn't going to cut it.
If you get a favorable draw on your schedule, you'd better play real well in the big games.
