***OFFICIAL CFP Rankings Show Watch Thread***

2 guys named Chris has had several conversations about how Iowa's schedules being harder makes it harder for them to get to the playoffs going forward and I think they were wrong on two counts.

1) Iowa (and Indiana's) schedule this year shows that from time to time, you're still going to have years where the schedule isn't all that difficult

2) more importantly, I think they have a fundamental misunderstanding of what it takes to make the playoffs. They're too worried about losses and not focusing enough on wins. So yes, only playing Ohio St makes the schedule easier, but it also puts way more importance on that game than if you also played Penn St and Indiana.

Georgia this year had one of the toughest schedules in the country so even at 10-2 they are a lock to make the playoffs even though they got whooped by Ole Miss. Texas this year had a relatively easy schedule but they better hope they beat A&M because their 10-2 isn't going to cut it.

If you get a favorable draw on your schedule, you'd better play real well in the big games.

Big 12 champ with 2 ranked wins to finish season would jump Boise and Tulane IMO. Beat K-State and ASU/CU/BYU and we should get the bye.

One thing clones got going is if they’re going to make the CFP they will have to defeat two teams that are currently ranked, so that will help. Not worried about Tulane. Beat KState and you’ll jump them.

Can you catch Boise with two ranked wins? Idk. If we had an Ashton Jentry we could.

The talking heads on the show are working really hard to convince the audience that the Big 12 doesn't deserve a spot.

This makes me sad for our league.
We are setting the bar low and being treated like trash
That being said one would think Utah, osu, kstate, tcu, Baylor and tech will not all be completely average or tanked like this year

Makes you wonder if the committee have watched the last 3 games of theirs. Have struggled to be the powerhouses of Nevada, San Jose State, & Wyoming.
A true gauntlet of a schedule, I mean Portland Stste….bit time football.

Iowa's schedule is effectively one game harder. They kept 3 west teams permanently (none of them have improved into anything great but Wisc could), they aren't going to automatically get 3 great east/pac teams to replace the other west games. On average they'll end up with one more tough opponent between Pac adds and more frequent east matchups. There is a path, however rare, to a season here or there with a really brutal schedule though and that wasn't possible before.

Not trying to be arrogant, but as long as Campbell keeps ISU competitive that probably makes Iowa's non-con above average for P4 too. The same has been true for ISU for a long time. During the 10 team round robin era, 9 games of the B12 round robin plus Iowa made ISU's schedule top ten a majority of seasons. Even this year with no Texas/OU the Iowa game makes ISU's non-conf above average, some of these teams play absolutely nobody and some SEC teams do play one real game but get an extra cupcake game.
