Sound off

It was meant to be awkward, and I'm sure Andy wrote it. It's satire and comedy and actually brave and edgy. It makes fun of stereotypes and society today where race gets tied into everything. I can't believe the knee-jerk shallow reaction of so many here. Has anyone ever watched SNL?

Go right ahead and explain how it is funny or "brave"

Yeah, I can't believe how many people are complaining about how awkward it was when it was meant to be that way. However, funny, it wasn't and it was in poor taste to boot.

Local celebrities are an interesting bunch

If only there were interesting stories in the state to cover, maybe SoundOff wouldn't have to resort to such stunts.

If you don’t watch local news enough to realize how cringy it is on a daily basis, especially WHO, well, congrats on having a life, I guess. Fales’ longevity there is just a testament to his dorky mediocrity. Don’t even get me started on little girl interviewer Ed Wilson. That just is not the entertainment they apparently think it is.

The bit was kind of funny- he said it without saying it. But…if he had taken a little artistic license with any other race with the same content, he’d have been fired. There’s a racial double-standard that our society is generally ok with.

There’s a part of me that thinks people need to relax a little bit and not take everything so serious and another part of me thinks…but you still can’t say stuff like that. Injecting race is almost always bad form and doesn’t really seem relevant in any situation, especially in sports.

The real tragedy for our local ‘media’ is instead of focusing on how good our team is playing, they focus on nonsense. It should bug him that the toe was completely non-competitive the week before in Columbus.

My response falls under the parameters of a Ron White statement "I had the right to remain silent, I just didn't have the ability". To me this is one of the issues with todays society. Everybody is overly sensitive and has to be politically correct because "you hurt my feelings". Rather than interpreting this as a racial statement, view it as a compliment to our black athletes, or at least a compliment to Carson. There was no ill attempt here and if this didn't fall into your "humor category", dismiss it and move on. Was it done well? Hell I don't know, I'm not a critic, but it made me laugh..

Edit: I see some of the responses since I started typing reflect some of my view, Kudos

He's accomplished his goal and the stations .... Talking about it well after the fact. That's difficult in today's media cycle.

Is it really a double standard if everyone in here is saying it is cringe for the same reason it would be for anyone else? Odd take.

Fales has had some fun/funny What's Bugging Andy but this one just was a miss. There is a way to be funny with these subjects without offending but this was just awkward.
