Something hard about construction is the fact that everyone else thinks you should know everything even when you're new.
All the guys I work with are pretty chill and down to earth. They know I'm still learning. The crane operator was cool too, and he was more yelling so I could hear him rather than yelling because I put the cable in the wrong spot. Even he said they were exceptionally large trusses.

I have had potato wine one time. It tastes awful and looks like urine. I did make the dude who brought it take a couple drinks off it before I would try it. The dude thought no cop would bust him for underage drinking if he had it in a round bottomed chemistry flask. As much as I drank in HS and college I ended up pitching it when the guy left it.

Had a classmate die recently from some complications, had a cousin die last fall similarly and have had a lot of friends lose their parents over the past year.

It's all very surreal.
In the past 2.5 years, starting with my father, then Lew's step-dad, mother, 3 older brothers, one older sister, and the husband half of our best friends...surreal probably isn't the word I would use. :(

When your parents are 40 when you are born, your mom is the youngest in her family and your dad is the middle of 9; you unfortunately attend many funerals at a young age. It isn’t something that doesnt affect you but at an early age, I was forced to learn to accept death as a common occurrence.

It had allowed me to hold less grudges and just move on with life. Cherish those times and don’t take them for granted is all I can say.

Eesh, yeah that's a lot.

Not immediate family but my dad in the past 3ish years has lost all sorts of life long friends and a couple of really influential mentor types.

I suspect your dad and I are contemporaries (I'm 68). It doesn't get better for us from now on. It definitely brings you face to face with your own mortality.
But hey, we're upright, traveling and enjoying life for as long as we possibly can!

Mid-late 70s.

I visit often and am grateful that I enjoy it (although I still stick to my general 3-day rule for visiting as worlds can start to collide haha).

That's a bunch. I'm sorry that you've had to go through all that in such a short period of time.
