Incorrect. 100% validated in these specific companies.
And that somehow represents the entire population of US companies, both public and private, large and small, all industries, profit/non-profit, etc.

What I find unsettling is the number of older Americans, my parents' generation that only have SS plus a little more to live on. That is fine as both are alive, but when one passes away, that puts a strain on the surviving spouse getting by on only the one SS check each month. That generation believed that the government would take care of them in old age, and the cost of medical needs are eating them up.

I am not sure how often SS is adjusted for inflation, but I don't think its happening on a yearly basis, putting a strain on many older people.
$15.00 an hour x 40 hours = 600 a week. x 4 weeks=$2400.00. That is an average SS check I have been told. It is crazy thinking the elderly, unable to work, should have to live on that amount. Figure rent and health care utilities and groceries. My mother is 99 and she just went broke last fall. Isn't bad enough for a nursing home. Now she is in assisted living. She retired at 62 so 37 years retired was pretty good. Just didn't have enough cash. 4200.00 a month in assisted living soaked it up fast. Luckily three of us live within 20 miles of her. 3 out of the 6 kids help her get by. I know helping her puts a strain on my retirement.

Honestly suprised assisted living at 99 is only $4200 a month.

We have a relative in an assisted memory facility

It's much higher than $4200/mo
She has an apartment. They supply cleaning, laundry and meals and dispense prescription drugs. Nothing else. One room w/bathroom. With microwave and minifridge sink. Not a memory care, long term insurance or medicaide wont pay for this type of housing.

You forget to login to your other account?
U are about the tenth person that had said that over the years. Get in line. It is beyond my skills to set up a new, different account, on purpose. If there is or has been, I am not aware, as I have said before. Thanks and get in line.

If ten people are telling you this, maybe it's more indicative of your type of posting, than them reading it.

And if setting up another account is really "beyond your skills" than I think people need to evaluate your posts and what you consider facts even harder than they already do.

Yeah my grandma is in a retirement apartment, not assisted living but the building is connected to an assisted living wing. That even costs $3200/month for a 1 bedroom. $4500/month for a 2 bedroom. This is in CB.

Are the meals in a common cafeteria? That always seemed to help my grandmother. Lots of hanging out together.

My MIL was 2700/month for assisted living. Was 300 higher than needed because she felt she needed a 2 bedroom. Small towns aren’t that bad I guess. She just went to a care facility so she was high end needs.

LTC won’t pay for it? That’s something I hadn’t seen in one, although I’ve only seen a few.

Smaller towns might have better employee retention too. I'd imagine that helps as you age, to see familiar faces.
