***#4 Iowa State vs. Oklahoma (Friday, 7:00)***

Why was 141 heavily favored? I attended my first ISU wrestling match tonight with my boys and I thought it was a toss up based on rankings in the program
Casey’s ceiling is super high. But he’s still young, as you saw. Expectations for him are high (maybe unreasonably high).

You send him out there as a true freshman the expectations better be high!

Swiderski shouldn’t have stopped regardless, but how was that a takedown? Doesn’t a body part still have to be inside the circle? Or does having a foot off the mat 3 feet in the air still count?

As long as it's inside the cylinder, it's inbounds.

Just got back from being at the dual. Not going to claim to have great knowledge on the technical side of wrestling, but to me Casey and Paniro are really struggling with opponents that have the length advantage on them, which is magnified with neither having a dominant top/bottom game and totally relying on neutral offense for scoring. I know some people are talking about a bulk job for Casey, but I’m not convinced about it after seeing him look a decent amount smaller compared to Schwartz IMO. My 2 cents.

Looked tiny compared to Schwartz. I’ve seen the comments about Casey’s size too, and I don’t see it either. He looks small to me.

I think Dresser’s comments during the media session this week are spot on. Stubborn kid who’s never had to cut weight before stepping on campus is a tough combo. Also have film out there now so coaches have a better idea on how to game plan against these two. Now up to Casey, Paniro and staff to make the necessary adjustments on and off the mat within next month before Big 12s and NCAAs.

For the serious wrestling people what are our chances of winning the big 12, and being a factor at NCAAs? In other words, I realize we are number 4, but how far away are we really?

After tonight, a lot further away than we were this morning. 141, 149 and 174 have to get **** figured out. 125 is a struggle too, but if Cabanban makes it back, we’ll be OK there. I was never counting on much from 157.

It’s a long season, and I think the freshman focus will be better come March when it’s tournament time. January is right in the middle of a very long season for freshmen that are used to a short season. I think when the lights come on, we get a much better Casey and Paniro. David, Marcus, and Yonger are all elite. If Redding is focused he’s an AA contender at 133. Get Cabanban back at 125 and we’ll be fine. Not overreacting to a January dual with a lot of season left

Big 12 should still be ours with some improvements at the weights noted that are quite doable. Ncaa is still penn st but then a wide, wide open battle for second. Weird things happen is tournaments. It’s gonna be wild.
