Dish Dropped Disney Last Niight

The cable replacement streamers like YTTV and Hulu+ are susceptible to this too. They have to re-sign contracts with these channels periodically just like satellite and cable. Their business model is largely the same, just a slightly different transmission technology.
True, but the good thing with cord cutting is you can cancel your service at any time without a fee.

I have Sling Orange, which has the Disney/ESPN stuff, and they are gone for now. In the interim, Sling is giving free access to Sling Blue, which has FS1 and NFL Network, and some other stuff not on Orange.

No biggie for me personally. It's, going to be a beautiful, cooler fall weekend here, so I wasn't planning to be inside much anyway. Plenty of FB on OTA. I hate the crap that the content providers pull bundling all their stuff together to subsidize their crap channels, so I generally support cable/streaming companies in these matters...

Dish owns Sling I think.

No better time to cut the cord if you were thinking about it. Youtube TV is fantastic.

Posted in another thread but got my 65 year old parents setup with YTTV after having DirectTV for 20+ years and they love it. If they can figure out online streaming in a small Iowa town - anyone can.

I'll do the free trial to a streaming service if they don't figure it out by 2:30.

This gives me an excuse to try Fox Big Noon Kickoff and see if I can replace ESPN on my Saturday mornings.

You realize it's the networks taking Dish and their subscribers hostage, right? They have to pass the higher transmission rates onto their customers, and they know higher rates are bad all around....bad for customer retention and bad for the customers that choose to stay with them.
I do think content providers are an issue but Dish is really bad about this. They dropped all of the RSNs a number of years ago. Any service that is going to drop the Disney stuff is also the responsible party. If live sports were not a thing a lot more people would have dropped and gone to streaming. Increased prices are bad for customer retention but not having the few remaining items that people care about is even worse.

Crap. Besides going to a local watering hole any suggestions on a streaming service I can sign up for and cancel later that has ESPN?
Pretty sure YoutubeTV has a free 7 day trial. Hulu & Fubo may as well. Should get the game with all 3 of those services.

ESPN thinks they are above everything, let me tell you this, its called unproductive capital and its gonna be a buzz phrase in a few years. ESPN will be one of the first to be defunded.

I can't give you much advice. I stream ESPN+ on my Apple TV box then use a family members DirectTV signon to stream the normal ESPN channels.

So we have Dish and the Disney plus bundle with ESPN+ and Hulu. Should be ok? I think I could watch whatever US Open match I wanted though ESPN+ on Hulu without logging into cable provider. And we just got Game Show Network back recently so I thought I was all in the clear. Husband still asleep right in front of the TV or I would check it out.

We used the 7 day free trial on Fubo to watch the Iowa game since I didn’t have Big 10 network. You can do the free trial to watch the game today and remember to cancel it before the 7 days is up. I’m in the same boat as I have Sling and woke up to no ESPN

No, you won’t be able to watch regular ESPN/ESPN2

I would entertain dropping Dish if we didn't have so much content saved on our DVR. Guessing there is probably some way to record it digitally record it somewhere but don't have the time these days to put that kind of effort into it.
