Ok I am not losing it
This must have changed it use to be if you didn't play a minute you are automatically considered redshirted. If you want a medical redshirt and played under 30% of the games. You'd wait until the extra year and apply before that season.

The other question is some schools don't include the free year when adding up eligibility. So basically it's a clusterflop.

There is no rule that says you must move on from college if you go through senior day. Maybe he's moving on from UNI?

If you're going to transfer from one school to another and you're a RS Jr, you don't go through Senior day stuff. That's what I thought was weird about it.

They have him listed as a Junior but he's been there 4 years so maybe they just took that as he's done his 4 years here so its somewhere else or NBA.

If he's graduating why not go through senior day?

I’ve always viewed senior day as a ceremony for athletic seniors. Not academic. Think how many RS JRs would go thru football senior day if you followed by when they graduate.

My take on the whole AJ Green senior day situation is he’s likely moving on from UNI but TBD if his next stop is a different college or professional

AJ playing alongside one of the best PG's in the country would be such a perfect fit. When he does struggle for UNI, it's generally because he's having to do everything. He's by no means inept as a ball handler/playmaker but he'd be much better off in more of a shooting guard/secondary ball handler role.

AJ has also shot 141 free throws on the year as a 91% free throw shooter. That is an area of weakness of our team (69.1%, 260th nationally).

Hunter and Green would fit together so well.

Both are natural combo guards. It would be good for the two of them if they could mix playing on-ball and off-ball with the other to support them. Green is a deadly outside shooter. He'd benefit from not having to have the ball in his hands all the time so others can set it up for easy outside looks.

Hunter/Green/Brockington would be a monster backcourt -- even before accounting for a bench that would likely have Kalscheur (if back), Grill, one of Jackson/Walker, Lipsey, and King behind them.

Not expecting it, but I would imagine TJ would at least get a shot to pitch AJ and would have a strong one.

I'd think most graduating (academic) seniors would come back and play for another year being they have eligibility. Could be wrong.

Him going through them, though, signifies to me he's done at UNI.

That's your view and I respect that but in the end you have a 2x CPOY that spent 4 years there and graduated. Whether he's turning pro or hitting the portal I'd be surprised if he didn't go through senior day.

Can you provide a single instance where that has happened before (a Senior day for academic graduation not athletic graduation)? I can't.

Why would I need to? AJ will be a 2x CPOY. Fans want to recognize him. Is there even a Senior night participation website?

You're suggesting something happened that nobody else has ever heard of, any chance that wasn't the reason?

So if AJ goes through senior day then enters the transfer portal you'll admit you're a dumbass?
That's not at all what I said/meant. He did not go through senior day because he graduated from school, he went through it because he's completed his athletic career at UNI.
