Isheem Young enters transfer portal

A little interesting he mentions his position coaches but not coach Campbell. I wish Isheem luck. However, who has been the last transfer out of Iowa State in basketball or football that has had a lot of luck? Wes Johnson and now Bolton are the two that come to mind for basketball.
Didn't Tyler Lorenzen transfer out of ISU as a WR, go to UConn, and win a BCS bowl as their QB?

Read it again. He does mention Coach Campbell.

That's a great point and analogy. Those mom and pop stores that survived found a formula that works and they attract customers. Same will have to happen in the new era of college football. Coaches are really going to have to build relationships, create a culture, be constantly recruiting and retaining.
Can ISU compete with "Our scholarship offer comes with an NIL deal worth 75K plus incentives"? Do we want to?

Why wouldn't they?

Like I said, the NIL money will get managed so long as the kid has value to the program. I presume tax issues with players will be on par with the NFL and to my knowledge the NFL isn't rife with tax cheats, at least not cheats getting caught...
Maybe you are right. However, I see a big difference in how NFL $$$$ on salary with IRS withholdings are handled versus what I see as a cottage industry for players making $. The guy that mows your lawn is paid cash and no one pays any attention to his paying taxes, or at years' end, if he evne has any money left to pay them.

Everything that put us behind the richer ADs will just get amplified. The gap will widen. But that's probably not as disturbing as ESPN creating a Super Conference whose only logical conclusion is a Super League. In ESPN's defense...this seems to be what Americans want. Once we relegated the traditional Bowls and deemphasized the sanctity of the conferences tied to those Bowls; in search of "One True Champion", it was only a matter of time before the rich would feel the need to consolidate.

This isn't going to end well for ISU, but we're not alone. Once NFL Lite gets formed there will be many teams outside that group of 32 Super League teams. Who knows, maybe the resultant CFB programs get reformed back to a structure more like the 1970's. It'd be nice, but it won't be as compelling nationally...and will the process crater a bunch of ADs along the way? I don't know, but I DO get the sense that I PERSONALLY, will lose interest.

If this scenario takes place, the problem with a re-formed CFB league is that the NIL laws of the individual states, which basically promote the NIL free-for-all, will still be in place and would still apply to the new league. How many of those remaining schools will have donor resources that could set up the NIL consortiums to buy players and skew the competition?

I am not sure the recruiting will effect us too bad, it’s going to be retaining. Hopefully we can get in on some players in the future but who knows.

Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, 'he that is not with me is against me'. - Author: George Orwell

Does academic eligibility apply here anymore? Let's say the player collects $50k and signs with Alabama, but doesn't make the grade. Does it matter? Will anyone care? Will anyone even keep score?
