Bought a turkey ham. What the hell was I thinking?
On purpose or did someone place in your cart and you didn't notice?

I can help with the planting. Get a shovel and dig a hole. Make sure it is deeper and wider than the roots. Put tree in the hole and put dirt back. Water daily for a few weeks.Hey, @BoxsterCy - can you give me some ideas on how to choose an LA to do some work out front? Our lilac hedge is dying, and is no visual barrier in the winter anyway. We'd like to replace it with some sort of evergreen, but don't know when/how to plant. And we want to start with relatively mature trees/shrubs so that they stand a chance against the deer.

What is that? a faux ham made out of processed turkey? Kind of like a turkey loaf?Bought a turkey ham. What the hell was I thinking?
Yeah...we're old farts with bad hips/backs/knees. And we're not talking about skinny saplings here.I can help with the planting. Get a shovel and dig a hole. Make sure it is deeper and wider than the roots. Put tree in the hole and put dirt back. Water daily for a few weeks.
Apparently. It’s not good. What is that? a faux ham made out of processed turkey? Kind of like a turkey loaf?
If evergreens. A post hole auger would help. If bigger than that, do 3-4 holes and then scrape out the leftovers. They have gas powered ones that 1-2 people can use fairly easily.Yeah...we're old farts with bad hips/backs/knees. And we're not talking about skinny saplings here.

Those gas-powered ones are dangerous. Buddy had a little towed hydraulic one we used for my deck posts. No broken arms. Buddy destroyed his arm with multiple fractures with one of those gas one why working grounds crew at Drake.
Can't really help with a recommendation for peeps that do that sort of thing down your way. If I wasn't avoiding Iowa again I'd drop in and give you a can of beer consultation, that's about what it would be worth. Early spring would be the best time to plant evergreens but it's hit and miss with them making it, or so it seems. And so many evergreens are just deer food. The best medium height screens like arborvitae or white cedars are like deer candy. You could always try a CF posting and than sort out the ass-hole responses from the useful ones.
You could email me a google map with area noted. What are you trying to screen?
Thinking hydraulic, and knowing lew has a skid loader. They have ones for the front of one. Probably a rental place would have one to attach or the whole thing may be a few bucks but if they have 3-4 to do, may be cheaper than hired labor. Those gas-powered ones are dangerous. I need to dig deck footings and was thinking of getting the one that you can tow with you truck. Only need one person to operate it.Thinking hydraulic, and knowing lew has a skid loader. FYI, since you couldn't tell from above...we are hiring this out. I was looking for what questions to ask to find a good person/company to take on the project. If evergreens. One good question is "How much will this cost?"FYI, since you couldn't tell from above...we are hiring this out. I was looking for what questions to ask to find a good person/company to take on the project.![]()
When will it be completed? One good question is "How much will this cost?"
I haven't gotten over the delay factor on the current project yet. Rome wasn't built in a day, but it sure as hell was built faster than this. Lew built the garagemahal between Memorial Day and Labor day of the same year...pretty much singlehandedly.Jc gets a laugh and I get angry face?
