What are the odds this whole thing is just a red herring?

JP made his announcement about "don't believe what you hear" and hours later we are all hearing this smoke around TJ leaving UNLV. Is this all some kind of ruse and JP and his buddy Otz are having a laugh at us all?? Meanwhile the actual candidate is being more motivated to come to the table.

I don't think that is what's happening. But I think there is a nonzero chance its happening.
What does smoke sound like? :)

I laugh thinking about how Jamie could manipulate the fan base. Get John Groce's name out there and then all of a sudden TJ isn't so bad! Like a bunch of sheep.
I will not silent while you insult sheep by that comparison.

good point. How many lower conf results will we have to endure? Any losing in Hilton to non-Power conf teams? how many NIT invites?
This reply is to you all who think prohm and the program has failed. We have won 4 of the last 7 big 12 tournaments. 2 good runs in dance. Check your history gentlemen. That's pretty good for schools not named Kentucky and Kansas. Keep that in mind when ******** about pollard.

Someone remember to come back to this forum in 3 years and see who has to eat crow. I’m actually pretty excited for this hire. Otz knows how to win here, a good recruiter and loves Iowa state so hopefully won’t be worried about him jumping ship. Pollard probably had this lined up months ago. Gives otz time to work transfer market and retain current players and incoming recruits

I definitely agree we won’t have to worry about that, for the same reason UNLV wasn’t.

Agree 100%. Basically anyone--anyone--they hire will be an immediate and significant improvement over Prohm. No identity. No scheme. Teams that flat out quit 15x/year.

ISU was able to win in Prohm's first 3 years because the talent was greater than his ability. I know a lot of guys are out there defending him, but man the last 3 years have been really ugly. Yes, I am aware that the Clones won the Big 12 tourney 3 years ago, but even that team, with a lot of very talented players unperformed for most of the season. Without Shayok going wild in some games that team would have been really bad.

Yeah I don’t get the pollard ********. They forget quickly what he’s done for our football program and hoiball for basketball. We’ve been pretty blessed from a sports standpoint lately alternating between basketball and football. Quit whining and enjoy life

Wait what? Lol Prohm got fired two days ago for going 14-42 the past two years.. he failed so bad these past two years that he got fired for it. Had he been just below average, he’d honestly still be the coach.

Yeah I'm not buying ISU paid that much for both buyouts from their own funds. Either buyouts were somehow negotiated down, or donor money helped the bill (despite what Pollard said in his video earlier).

I think what Pollard said was that he does not make decisions based on proposed donations with strings attached. If, however, a donor makes a large donation that just so happens to cover the buy-outs resulting from a decision Pollard has already made, so be it; Pollard will accept and use the money.

This is from last night. Don’t know if it’s been posted here but we technically did comment on this.
