Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

Uhhhh. Our BB coach ain't making more than our FB coach who rocks it and pays the bills for the BB coach. .

i mean there’s always the thought that day takes an nfl job in the near future, or Kelly retires. If Campbell leaves, Jamie needs a mt Rushmore coach to cushion that blow

There are two parts to this equation. I don’t think you understand how far this program has gone down. JP needs something more than some guy. Butts in seats, excitement from the fan base. The 20 people here that are in fantasyland about John Bielien and Thad Matta aren’t representative of what is going to get some excitement and optimism in to the program.

It’s weird to me how people are looking at this. You get one of your own. You always take one of your own at ISU. We’re a small family as it is.

Maybe I overestimate the nostalgia of Fred Hoiberg but given the type of money it will take to get him there, I think most other people would want to have a more established college coach. Dana Altman, Chris Holtman, Matt Painter, Lon Kruger, Tony Bennett, Scott Drew, Buzz Williams, Chris Mack, etc are all making $4 million or less. For similar money, you could have any one of them over Fred Hoiberg. We, donors included, would be idiots to want Hoiberg over any of them.

While this is all fun to discuss, Pollard isn’t paying top dollar for a MBB coach...even if it’s not his money.

Shut your damn mouth. Day will coach until he's 90. Brian Kelly will never die. And Campbell has one true dream in life and that is Iowa State. ;)

This thread reminds me of the time ISU said they had a big announcement about changes to who would be carrying ISU sports on the radio. The rumor started to spread on message boards that they were going to announce that 1040 WHO was dropping the hawks and picking up ISU. When they announced 100.3 the BUS was going to start broadcasting ISU games people on the boards were pissed it wasn't WHO, even though 100.3 is one of the strongest FM signals in central Iowa. I sense a similar thing happening here if Fred isn't announced as the next coach.

Yes, all of those people would sign up right now to coach at Iowa State. Go get them.

That's right, it is going to be FUN.

You don’t need all of them. You need one.

Plus the entire point is that we could be swimming in that coaching pool for the money it will take to bring Fred Hoiberg back to Ames. Why the hell would anyone want Fred over anyone in that group?

can you imagine if its like porter moser, or of course tj, after getting everyone excited about the possibility of fred making his triumphant return?

I mean, honestly, it makes me excited for when TJ is named. And the kicker is that I—the person that dreads TJ being named the head coach and still harbors anger about how 2015 was handled by his camp—will feel sorry for him when it happens. So maybe the TJ people are playing the long game?

Where the hell am I? With all the crazy talk on here I swear I went to CF and it redirected me to some crazy conspiracy theory website.

it’s fun, right? I mean Cat the usual angry guy is downright pleasant right now. I’m having a grand time thinking that people believe Gunner’s grandma ********. Or that one guy that keeps claiming Hoiberg would have come back 2 years ago if only prohm hadn’t won the big 12 tournament. Or the people that think if we just throw 5 million at the problem that we will get Tony ******* Bennett.

I don’t think he realizes that the only reason that money would be there is only if it’s Fred. They won’t give that money for anyone but him.

if any of this has any merit at all, Fred’s people have let it be known he’s interested.

I 100% realize that. And I’m saying it’s dumb. People are saying that type of money is there for Fred (because that’s what it will take) but not any of those other coaches? How dumb is that...

I don’t know how much clearer I can say it - I’m not saying any of those would come to Iowa State but that’s the dollar pool and coaching caliber we could have by spending the money it will take to bring Hoiberg to Ames. What are you not understanding?

If it is tj, or even if it’s not, he’s going to have one of the longest honeymoon periods any new coach will ever be given.

Simply because he’s not Steve Prohm

None of those guys have personal relationships with Gary Thompson

ehh...that’s what I thought too. But I think the “he’s not fred” hangover might last longer than one coach. It won’t be as bad. But it’ll be there.
