There are 12 spots in NY6 bowls including the semi-finals. Each of the Power 5 conferences get a representative and 1 spot goes to a group of 5 team. These teams/spots seem to be all but guaranteed at this point:

Alabama
Notre Dame
Clemson
Ohio St.
Texas A&M
Florida
1 Big XII
1 Pac-12
1 G5

That leaves 3 spots, the team's that appear to have a chance to fill those spots are:

Big 12 championship game loser
Georgia
Miami
Indiana
Northwestern
2nd G5 team (Coastal or Cincinnati)

Northwestern ia probably only in if they win the Big 10 championship given that they were 14th last week, didn't play this week, and have a 2-4 Illinois team left.

Cincinnati is definitely in if they beat Tulsa twice and right on the bubble (leaning out) if they lose one.

Coastal is out if they lose and right on the bubble (leaning in) if they beat Troy and Louisiana.

Georgia, Miami, and Indiana aren't going to a conference championship game (assuming the Big 10 gets Ohio St. in). Georgia has Mizzou and Vandy left, Miami has NC and Georgia Tech, and Indiana has just Purdue. If any of them lose a game they are out and if they win out they are on the bubble.

I can't see any way that 2 Big 12 teams could get into NY6 bowl games. If ISU wins, they will not take a 3 loss OU, if ISU loses they will not take a 3 loss Cyclone team. Not even sure they will take a 2 loss Cyclone team.
I mean, if we beat OU we're automatically in a NY6 bowl. We'd also be ranked in the top 8

I didn't realize that they had to take the Big 12 Champ. Still, they are not going to take ISU and a 3 loss Sooners.
Maybe. They will have a hell of an edge though because of their “brand”

Your brain decide to stay asleep today. At two losses it means we won the CCG and that puts us in the cotton right there. Wake up.

I tend to lean that if we win it's the Cotton, if we lose it's the Alamo.

I think that is most likely although depending on other games, we'd still have an outside chance even with a loss.

Isn’t it pretty much the committee that makes the picks. Even if we lose I have a hard time seeing us really drop unless we get blown out. I feel confident in a NY6 bowl regardless at this point. Even then worst case scenario is we go to Alamo.

CW said that if we beat WV, we are going to be all but a lock for a NY6 bowl regardless of CCG. He doesn't say that without inside intel. We ain't goin to no Alamo.

He's right. I would wager that Iowa State will jump Georgia in the CFP poll this week and possibly jump Cincinnati. Iowa States resume is really really solid and I wouldn't be completely shocked to us us at 7 this week. Unless Iowa State gets destroyed (they won't) in the CCG they are in a great spot for a NY6 bid.

Wow, how far have we come when Alamo isn't good enough!
Woah. Woah. Woah.

That isn't what I meant at all, to be clear. I am just saying I think it's a foregone conclusion that we aren't going to the Alamo.

8 spots are contractually spoken for this year (ACC #1, Big 12 #1, B1G #1, Pac-12 #1, SEC #1, highest G5, ACC #2*, SEC #2*). That leaves 4 at-large spots.

The Pac-12 champ isn't likely to be in the top 12 at this point, so that effectively shrinks the at-large pool to teams ranked #11 or higher.

If you're talking worst-case scenario (ISU losing to OU), ISU probably needs tOSU to be the B1G champ. That way, Indiana or Northwestern aren't taking another spot -- especially if they're outside the top 12.

*Orange is next-highest ACC vs next-highest SEC/B1G, which is likely to be an SEC team.

CW isn't known for always being right. Most bowl projections have us in the Alamo bowl
