I absolutely hate all of the whispering at tribal. I don't remember exactly when it started but it absolutely needs to stop. It's absurd.

I agree. They have the whole rest of the day to talk and strategize. The **** at tribal started back when players would give an answer to Jeff's questions at tribal that caused alarm in another player who had (or thought they had) some sort of plan or alliance.

But it's gotten way out of hand.

The thing is, without the commotion at tribal, I think the vote would have gone completely different. I think Jeremy would have gotten the most votes and it would have come down to the coin flip. I was very surprised he didn't use that coin regardless.

We only see 5 percent of tribal council though. So 90 percent of it's boring questions. Then someone will answer strange and it sets off panic. I actually like the whispering. I wish they had them mic'd so we could go online and hear what they were whispering. See if the vote actually changed or if it's just nonsense.

That would work better. Right now it's like watching Poker on TV without seeing people's hole cards.

Yeah the whispering is getting out of hand at times. I do find it funny though that most of the time as it goes on at least 1 person just keeps talking through it to Jeff. Adam and Ben have done it this season and last night Sarah pretty much did too. The one thing you have to assume is that Jeff probably views some footage and gets briefings from the producers prior to tribal about what has been going on so he can ask some pointed questions that may spark some good drama.

At one point last night I thought it might be headed to where all the advantages and idols came out with Tony using his idol for Sarah, Ben using his and Jeremy playing his 50/50. In hindsight that is the kind of chaos Kim Nick and Michele needed to have a chance to stay alive is to get everyone nervous enough to flush out all the advantages and level the playing field a bit. Those 3 and Denise pretty much are in the "I'm down with anyone as long as it's not me" voting mode since they are on the wrong side of the numbers at this point.

I'm just not sure the whispering actually changes anything. These players are just very paranoid and want confirmation of their plans. I think there should definitely be a no standing up at tribal rule implemented. If you're gonna say something then everyone should be able to hear it, that's what tribals all about!

I've been wondering if some of the whispering going on is an intentional strategy by some to see if there are cracks of gauge where someone who is on the fence is going to vote. If you create a distraction and a little bit of uncertainty maybe that person cracks and changes their vote. It's crazy to watch when it happens because it leaves you wondering who the hell is going home once its time to vote. I've also wondered if there are conversations we don't see before they head to tribal that if so and so says this or that then the vote will be player B not player A or something. Next tribal could be even more crazy because now you know Tony has and idol and Jeremy has possible immunity and at least Tony knows that Ben has an idol so there is not as much of an element of surprise now after all 3 almost got played last night. Ben and Tony have to feel pretty comfortable at the moment with idols and to some extent Jeremy unless Michele tries to get that 50/50 idol back. If I were him I'd say hell no it's mine now and I know I am in trouble so sorry about your luck. I'm a little nervous about where Sarah stands because while she seems tight with Tony and Ben I wouldn't trust either with were things are at this point. I get that Tony was willing to protect Sarah with his idol but that was more of a numbers thing because if Kim had not gone home and Sarah did he and Ben would be in a bad spot.

At this point I am really hoping for a Ben, Sarah, and Tony final 3 because I think they are the best players left right now. I highly doubt it happens and may even be surprised if 2 of the 3 make it that far because it always boils down to if you want to win the game bad enough you try to take the 2 weakest players to the end with you. As annoying and bad of a player Michele has been this season she would be the 1 person I want with me at final 3 because I don't think she has done anything to get enough jury votes to win. This is a season of all winners and I truly do think that the jury is going to pick the most deserving person this year because they will be just the 2nd player to ever win 2 seasons and that is a very prestigious title to hold to be the winner of an all winners season.

Ben has played a truly awful social game, pretty much the same as his first attempt. He's great at finding idols, but I don't see the jury rewarding him for that this season. Nick and Michele haven't been in control of much, and don't really have a strong case right now. Denise has the Sandra blindside on her resume, but has been on the wrong side of nearly every vote since.

To me in order for Nick/Ben/Denise/Michele to have any chance to win, they can't be sitting next to Tony/Jeremy/Sarah. Those three are the contenders.

I respectfully disagree. He's pretty much talked about as the biggest target, has won 3 immunity challenges in a row and has put a good show on in front of the jury.

I think Jeremy is simply on the wrong side of the numbers so he's just doing what you do to survive.

Ben has done a good job in short term planning/plans but seems to be lost long term because of his emotions when he's upset. Tends to shut down instead of talking to people. Nick does a great job of bottling his emotions and putting a happy face on when he has to. That's how he won D vs. G.

Gotcha. Yeah that's how Ben was so effective in HHH. His Ben bombs were just awesome theater for the jury. I liked his game, but Chrissy had played just as good if not better.

Listened to a long podcast with Chrissy after that season and she said thought she and Ben both played winning games but the jury saw Ben's in action and hers was more behind the scenes. That's how I feel about it.

I thought Ben did what he needed to do to win. I think the jury thought the other two were lazy when Ben was working hard to find idols. I would not have Been mad had he lost but I thought he did what it took.

Listened to a long podcast with Chrissy after that season and she said thought she and Ben both played winning games but the jury saw Ben's in action and hers was more behind the scenes. That's how I feel about it.

Devon had great relationships with most of the jury because he played a fantastic social game and stood a solid chance to win over Chrissy had Ben not been gifted final four fire making which was not told to the contestants ahead of time.

I still think Chrissy should have won over Devon, but Ben should have either been voted out 3-1 at the final four, or the contestants should have been told about the rule change before the season started.

Edit: I don't think Ben is an undeserving winner. He played a flashy game and that is obviously fun to watch. I just think he benefitted from production meddling.

That was a fun cast. Also had Dr. Mike in there who wasn't a bad player either.

I need to go back and watch that season though it was the first one I did a huge deep dive with pre-game hours long podcasts listening to interviews with all the players. I remember before the game thinking Chrissy was going to win. She's the female version of Cochran for articulating game play.

Agree Devon got blindsided by that twist but so did Ben. Plus as they say, if you're going to go on Survivor you better know how to make a fire. Fire making challenge is sometimes used in the case of a tie as well.

I personally do not want to see the firemaking challenge because the game is now basically get to the final 4 and know how to make fire. You use a layer of strategy.


EDIT: Just read up on this and Chrissy was given an advantage of knowing about the fire challenge and told Devon and Ryan ahead of time. She selected Devon and he practiced and was able to get the flame going. Ben didn't find out until tribal. Based on that, I don't feel so bad for Devon.

The other contestants also pulled the classic survivor move and got too comfortable. That allowed Ben to keep finding idols while they were laying around. The fact that they weren't trying to find the idol at the end when it was all that could save him just buried them multiple times.

They weren't blindsided at tribal council like Ben was, but of the three that would have voted Ben out, the only possible choice to beat Ben in fire making was Devon, it wasn't going to be Ryan or Chrissy. This was a rule change presented as a twist that the contestants should have been made aware of before the season started just like all the other seasons that have followed it.
