Vegas still values Hilton and doesn’t yet understand how bad we are. Bet against ISU at home all year.
I'm feeling a little apprehensive about it now that I've seen the line move the opposite direction I thought it would. You have to keep in mind though, that the KU line went from 6.5 to 4.5 and we all saw what happened.
This is college basketball. Look at what Iowa did to Maryland last night. Does anyone actually think Iowa is better than Maryland let alone 20 points better?
They aren't great, but they are a lot better than us. Manek and Dolittle are going to eat us alive. This is at worst a bubble team. At best a 8/9 seed in the Big Dance
That was a strange anomaly. Iowa continues to play way above or below their mean. If you look at the box score, Iowa's scoring was all Weiskamp and Garza, then the other guys combined for 20. Not sure Iowa played all that great, but for whatever reason, Maryland was awful.
They got blown out by Stanford who it’s that good, beat by 10 by Creighton, almost lost to North Texas, and almost lost to an extremely bad UCF and KSU teams at home. Cyclones definitely can win against OU. It would fit right in with Prohms teams being wildly inconsistent.
It's not Vegas, it's people betting. Vegas sets lines based on how people bet to get even action on both sides of the line. They don't care who they think is actually going to win the game.
This isn't really true, look at KenPom for example. KemPom has 0 interest in gathering action yet his projections are nearly identical to Oddsmakers lines.
It absolutely is true. I've heard it stated by oddsmaker in interviews. They probably wouldn't shade lines like today's ISU game because there isn't going to be a lot of action on it and sharps would jump all over it so they would just go with KenPom. But it is absolutely 100% true they do everything they can to get equal action on either side of a line, and thus it's about understanding how people are going to bet as much as it is handicapping the game.
You and I both!! As someone who bets consistently, I don't understand this line either, but Vegas is usually pretty accurate. I'll enjoy a W tonight as I watch, and as I see 8 inches of snow pile up on my driveway. Will probably do all of the neighbors driveways tomorrow as well if we win!
If it is so profoundly 100% true as you claim then why can I just look at KenPom and know within a 1 pt variance what the spread will be days/weeks before any game?

Welp, lost 20 bucks but it feels good, man.
ISU by 20. This team has talent, just not chemistry. IMO
This is wishful thinking as I will be attending my first game at Hilton since I graduated over 30 years ago. I believe we had 2 undefeated home seasons when I was a student under Johnny. I am not used to seeing us lose in person so maybe I can change the trajectory of the season today!
You should come to more games.
Bummer. Hope you live further south than Iowa or the upper midwest. Sort of cold now for having to live in an old refrigerator box behind the tavern dumpster.
