Football Season Postmortem

I thought we'd at least be 8-4, with a good chance at 9-3. At the end of the day, we very easily could have been 9-3. But we could also have been below .500, which is the biggest disappointment. I think the biggest difference this year compared to the last two years is that I did not see any swagger. This team had a target on their backs and didn't figure out how to deal with it.

If anyone hasn't listened to Jared's Instant Reaction podcast from last night, they need to listen to it.... it's a must listen IMO.

You can just hear the disappointment in his voice, and it's exactly how I felt.

It just seems that this team did not improve over the course of the year. Were we any better last night than we were against UNI or Iowa? I don't really think so. We definitely did not improve on the stupid false start penalties, the horrible Special Teams, the passing 3 yds on 3rd and 10, etc, etc, etc.

I’ve been going to games since the early 80s. I’ve seen it all and can agree with your statement. 7-5 is still average in this day and age though.
I’m also a BSME alum in case anyone cares.

Again if that is what average will look like for the rest of my cyclone fandom life, I will be thrilled.

because that is 3+wins more than what average has been up until this point.

Don’t disagree but we can still chase that elusive potential of overachieving vs underachieving in classic Cyclone fashion. So many missed opportunities all year is very Cyclonesque even with 7-5 results which are well above the norm for ISU FB.
 
Had Brock Purdy been a split second late in diving on that fumble in OT against UNI... this team would be 6-6 right now with really no good wins to speak of either.

I realize that you can play that game both ways, for instance, what if we had converted the two point conversion against OU and won that game.

So you're saying you're happy with "average" then. So be it. Some of us have dreams of being better than "average".

What good does you being unhappy with an average season do? That's the whole point of this. If you want to be miserable and unhappy with 7-5 knock yourself out. But I don't want to be unhappy.

I think people think that if you dare to see some good in a 7-5 season that the coaches will just phone it in. Also, there is nothing we can do about it unless you want a coaching change.

You know exactly what you're doing. I'm not explaining it to you. You demean, insult, and question the fandom of every single person who says something less than positive on this site. You're trying to run people off the site by bullying them until they do. Hope you feel proud

You know more about Iowa than I do. Your posts prove it. A look in the mirror would tell a different story.

ISU alum and supporter since the early 80s. I have ISU memorabilia hanging on the walls of my house. I’m just critical of our teams when they play stupid so that makes me a bad fan in your eyes. Whatever...troll.
