John Cooper was a player on the Dirty 30 and then an Ohio State head coach for like 13 years. Won 3 Big Ten championships, 1 Pac-10 championship (9 total conference championships), 1986 coach of the year, member of the Rose Bowl HOF, inducted into the College Football HOF 11 years ago.

I think he'd be a solid choice.

The more I read this thread and have thought about it tonight, I keep coming back to Dan McCarney. I hated the idea of sharing Gameday with the Hawks but now that it is happening Dan McCarney is the perfect guy for this. Most people remember him as the ISU coach and he played and coached at Iowa too. He's a likable guy, don't think they could go wrong picking him. Niang would be my 1st choice but I just don't see them going that way.

He would likely have practice commitments, but it would be cool if Montgomery could fly in on the ISU jet for a guest appearance.
