There's looking past the next game, and then there's looking past the rest of the regular season.

Here's to eligibility, and to keep winning after. THEN the projections will get real, and really interesting.

Until then, they're little more than useless than click-bait.

Everyone should ignore Palm's bowl projections (at least at this point in the season). He's obviously combining partly performance-to-date, but also factoring where he thinks teams will finish.

That's why (for example) he still has BYU in a bowl (in place of a vacated Big Ten tie-in) even though BYU is 1-6. Yes, that record came vs. challenging schedule, but no FBS wins yet, and only one loss was by fewer than 16 points.

Bottom line, if bowl selection happened today, BYU would not get a bid, and Iowa State absolutely would.

Any bowl would be great. But I enjoyed Memphis a lot. Its a pretty easy drive and a fun city. I'd sign up for that again.

Selfishly, I'd love the Frisco Bowl. It is literally a 5 minute drive from where I live. Heart of Dallas Bowl and the one mentioned in Fort Worth would be about 30 minutes or 1 hour away, respectively. Even the Alamo Bowl I would consider driving down to. Let's make it a Texas Bowl!

Only problem I have with Frisco Bowl is it’s played in a stadium that only holds like 20k. If ISU plays in a Texas bowl they could bring 20k fans themselves. Would hate to see what the ticket prices would be if two good fan bases make that bowl.

ISU will be an underdog in every game from here on out. Have to score two more UPSETS just to get to a bowl. Win at Tech and they might be favored at Baylor but won't be in any other games.

The official Big 12 bowl tie ins suck compared to the Big 10. Here's the picks below getting into the playoffs.

1. Valero Alamo Bowl vs. Pac-12
2. Camping World Bowl vs. ACC
3. AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl vs. SEC
4. AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. SEC
5. Cactus Bowl vs. Pac-12
6. Heart of Dallas Bowl vs. Big Ten

At least the match ups are against Power 5 teams.

Are we talking as of today or at the time?

As of today we're underdogs in at least 5 of the 6. But if we keep winning, KSU and maybe WVU could flip.

As of today. I'm hoping our performance this week helps flip these future games also!

A return trip to Memphis would be great. Despite the game outcome, I thought the Liberty Bowl last time we were there was really cool.

Historically, it is a game that has been played for a long time, neat trophy, good tailgating, easy travel both distance from Iowa and accessibility of stadium/downtown, good parade, good BBQ.
