I haven't been following the loan thread at all so I have no idea what the two have to do with each other. I'm glad for no sidewalks. DH would have been ok with them but I didn't want more to shovel. Streets are very low-traffic so kids are always riding their bikes up and down it.
have a good before of the expanded area where redbud lives but need a better after. Took the after at like 8pm and it's too dark.
And yeah, lots of clover in the lawn especially near the island. That side of the house probably had the poorest grass establishment by last fall. Not much to do this year they told us, need to work on grass getting established and so it can choke out some of the clover next year. Fertilizer has helped get that going and there's some things we can do in the fall. Trying to get rid of it this year would do more damage to all the baby grass. I'm like hey it's green, good for bees, and not something nasty like thistle.

cmjh, I know you sometimes check in here. I don't know what loan length & $$ down you were looking at but I think the advice to look at credit unions for a lower rate was good.
Yup. Too cold for spring jackets and too wet for true winter jackets. Looks like spring here but wind has winter bite to it.

Last fall, I had a truckload of dirt delivered to repair the erosion over the years. I then seeded it and had good results in the fall.
This spring, my lawn erupted with thistles. I either got a bad batch of dirt or seed, but I have spent hours pulling thistles this year. I've nearly filled two leaf bags of nothing but thistles. Nasty indeed.
see, I need DH to look on the bright side here. We've had one or two that we've dug out, but nothing like that. I'm like clover used to be in seed mix but when people started using herbicides, it would kill the clover and leave bare spots. So they pulled it out of lawn seed. I shall tell this to DH. Knock on wood, we only have a couple dandelions as well, mostly along the road. I'm like if we have to deal with clover for a while, I'll take that over the other options!
It's the soil. Had similar issues last year with some bagged topsoil I used to top dress some seeding. At least it wasn't thistles, that would have really ****** me off.
our new house has really bad soil and we didn't realize it until this spring. had a landscape guy come over and tell us it was mostly sand and clay which makes lush greens lawns tough to grow. dang.
CG, in terms of sidewalks, they come in handy once you have kids. That way you don't end up pushing strollers across the lawn or in the street. Plus, as they get older if they run to a friend's house, it's safer. I'm not sure if your neighborhood will ever propose them, but it's something to think about.
Granted, after your eighth or ninth kid, you'll probably stop caring, but it'll give you piece of mind for the first couple.
