Chilimac...if you're still here...can we seriously get the rule instituted that you have to have a certain number of posts before starting a thread...or at least it doesn't go live until mod approval (which admittedly would be mod intensive at times...say now...when all the goobers have decided to join just to share their unique, yet the same as everyone else's, perspectives on the CFH thing)?

Unless that person is Melvin Ejim.

The Mongolian Grill has almost always made me sick and it was from the buffet part, not the grill part. end rant/

Same here. I'm not a buffet guy either. Any place that has food sitting out with the general public walking by just screams sickness to me.

BTW, Revkah, you really need to ramp up the rants. One mildly worded sentence isn't cutting it.

Here you go:

I dislike this place for many reasons. I tried the grill the first time I went and I was sick for hours afterwards. The next time I went I just ate from the main buffet, but not the salad bar. I still had issues with in an hour. The third time I went I only ate from the salad bar..... I still. got. sick.

If that wasn't enough, the reason way I even went back was to eat with international friends. There would be groups of 10 plus people. They did not print us out a ticket each, but kept the total bill up front and people were made to pay as they left. The pastor that oversees the group had to make phone calls sometimes to make sure people paid and they wanted the last three people to cover the people that forgot to pay. In the end, it turned out that the cashier forgot to mark through those meals. It is a HORRIBLE system and horrible customer service.

Better? :)

Edit: I have been persuaded to try it once a year after those times. I care more about the relationships, but I refused to eat there while pregnant. Even more so after the whole Doria thing.

I have the same problem with HuHot...although, both times were in the Coralville one, so perhaps it was the dirty hawk fans eating and working and not the concept itself.

I don't think this is isolated to Coralville, the Cedar Falls location has always done a number on my stomach. It's either the dirty panther fans, or the oil. My money is on the panthers.

Not loud enough. Maybe more like:

Speaking of poor hygiene creating an intestinal nightmare at the mongolian grill places...

Am I the only one who, when faced with a situation where I observe someone leaving a public restroom without washing their hands, wants to follow the person out into the public space loudly declaring "That guy didn't wash his hands, just so everyone knows and can avoid making physical contact with them or anything they touch from here on out"?

I think oil, spice issues, or health issues could be the reasons for those locations. I wonder if you could call the health inspector and ask them to visit?

And random...

I think I've mentioned it on here before, but it's so become my goto thing when I just need to make something, but don't want to make a big thing of it.

If you want a simple, but good meal, get a whole chicken (I buy them on sale and put like 10 of them in the deep freeze). Preheat a large cast iron skillet in the oven at 400. Cut up enough potatoes and an onion to cover the bottom of the skillet and season them with whatever seasoning you have around. Cut up the chicken:

Cut along either side of the backbone with a kitchen shears
Separate the hind quarters from the breast section
Split the breast
Season the chicken with the same seasoning as the potatoes and onion.

Put a small amount of oil in the bottom of the skillet...just enough so the taters don't stick.
Put the potatoes in the bottom of the skillet and arrange the chicken on top.

Bake until chicken is cooked (an hour, hour and a half, not sure, I just put it in and check it).

The juices/fat from the chicken melt down into the potatoes making them soo good.

The glory is that not only is it good, get it in the oven and go do whatever until it's done.

I attribute it to the concept of letting the general public handle raw meats in close proximity to other foods (cross contamination), combined with the fast cooking methods which if not done correctly, can leave small pockets of undercooked food in the pile.

There is that too. I overheard a mom once asking her child if they only wanted noodles and veggies. I think I heard her mention that they wouldn't cook it, or at least thought about it. I was thinking 'But it's right next to the raw meat and you don't know if it's touched raw meat'

Tuesday was arm day for working out. I was surprised at how defined my arms are starting to look, so that was nice. Then yesterday we did ladders of push ups/abs/squats. So we'd do partner drills then for break do 20 of x, then 30, then 50. I don't want to do any push ups today.

our class yesterday she's like go heavy on weights for biceps and shoulder stuff in the first section. So I huff and puff through......then the next set she's like time for push-ups!

I felt so betrayed...I went heavy with the idea that we would not continue to do shoulders. Then the next section included burpees and that was really mean. Little sore today.

20/30/50 and back down is a lot of pushups, ok it's a lot of any exercise.........how long did the workout take?
