I wonder if the ncaa took into account the fact that Jones was basically forced out of SMU by the coaching staff who refused to play him while McKay transferred for no clear reason? Who knows...

Not getting as many minutes as he wants = forced out of SMU by the coaching staff. Gotcha.

I don't know the full story so there may be more to this...but it seems like a load of BS from the surface.

Usually the only reason you can be granted immediate eligibility is if you have a sick relative at home and you want to transfer closer to home. However, in this case, the aTm transfer is doing the opposite since he's from Dallas and is leaving there to play in College Station. This whole situation is just a load of BS. I'm extremely surprised, too, since ISU seems to be the new hot topic in college ball. Fred is bringing a lot of publicity to our school so I would've thought this waiver for McKay would've been granted.

I want to hear the ncaa explain why the suspension is so minor, AND why it's NEXT year and not this year. This is the most crooked cr@p I've heard in a long time.

Twins or dandy have you seen anything about if ISU will have any recruits attend Hilton madness. I'm sure well have a good crowd but I wonder if coaching staff wants to wait and see how the first year of Hilton madness goes before they invite recruits.

I haven't read anything about that but that's a great question. It would be a great one to ask CW or Travis Hines in their next mail bag. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to get Malik Dime on campus one more time before his decision.

Jones sat out all of last year since he didn't play any games, including exhibition games. He didn't transfer until after the end of first semester but he announced his transfer at the very beginning of the year once his coach made it clear he was not going to play him. Basically, he misses 4 games while McKay misses 9. Not a big difference.

How is that different then McKay?

There's a big difference between "not getting as many minutes as he wants" and not being allowed to suit up. Jones was put in street clothes for the exhibition games before he announced his transfer. Why? I have no idea. I just offer it up as a possibility since the ncaa has a history of being more lenient on players who have basically been shown the door by their former coaches.

I already what I think might be different. The situation surrounding why they transferred was different. Jones was not allowed to suit up for games. MAYBE the ncaa granted some leniency because of what appears to be a situation where the player was forced out versus simply choosing to leave on his own. I don't know.

That's no different at all than what McKay went through. The fact that Jones serves a 4 game suspension instead of 9 games and next year instead of this year shows how corrupt and inconsistent this league is.

It wasn't about minutes, it was about disagreeing with his coach and playing out of position. He announced he was leaving a month before their exhibition game too

I was looking through aTm's schedule and I'm sure they didn't make the suspension this year because right away they play against Dayton and UConn in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. That goes to show you how corrupt this league is.

NCAA decisions involving transfers have no consistency, we all know this. Can you guys please go to a different thread to argue about this? I'm tired of clicking on the recruiting thread and seeing this. I suggest the McKay thread where this exact same ***** fest is also occurring.
