C.W.McCall did a song back in the 70's about his hometown that was sort of funny called "Audubon"

And I recall listening to The Association "Dubuque Blues" for which I don't know the inspiration:

Are there other Pop songs like these two (which are the only two I can think of) which expressly have an Iowa connection -- in the case of these two songs it is an Iowa town/city.

The reason for this post was a Minnesota friend believed there were songs about his state but none about Iowa.

Turn the Page..."On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha"...that would be Iowa haha

Sioux City and Waterloo are mentioned in Johnny Cash "I've Been Everywhere". So is Spirit Lake but I think there are quite a few towns and lakes named that.

Greg Brown has a song called Fairfield that's pretty funny. Unfortunately I can't find any video of him singing it but I did find this cover.

If you are from the Fort Dodge area, you might remember a song from the 90's called "Kokotho", which was a parody of the Beach Boys song "Kokomo". It names many towns in the Ft. Dodge, to Spencer, to Algona triangle. It was made by some locals and it ran on 94.5 radio out of Ft. Dodge. Actually a pretty good song.

:spinny:

Is the film and George Harrison soundtrack album also about Creston, or just the Oasis song?
George harrison took a sabbatical from playing with the beatles to collaborate with Oasis there.

I thought it was about the stairs to a victoria secrets at a mall in west des moines.

No, you're thinking of "Two Steps Behind" by Def Leppard. Easy mistake
