Who else hates the parking devision?

Its not like the state sets the parking rules you know. The parking rules are also part of the criticism of the DPS.

After 3pm a good chunk of the lots on campus should be fair game.

Faculty & staff (including grad students) who pay for their parking space shouldn't have it available until the end of the work day (commonly 5pm)?

I always wonder why they need the pickups to drive around and ticket during the non winter months? Wouldn't walking, bikes, segways be more cost effective?

And they pay for the privilege to park and come to work to subsidize education costs. No grants = higher tuition.

I'm doubting the parking is a significant factor in their decision to take a job with ISU.

Especially not being able to lord over an empty lot.

During times where its actually needed, sure, but some common sense should be used.

Parking lots should sit empty so faculty can look out over their empty lot?

So when a total stranger is visiting your neighbor, is it okay for that total stranger to park in your empty driveway instead of down the street, even if there is no available curbside spots close to your neighbor's house? I mean, your driveway is open and you're not using it...

The bottom line is the university owns the land, they get to set the rules about how it's used. It's the exact same thing when the university wanted to build the soccer/softball/track complex and the neighbors hated it because they were losing the green space that didn't belong to them in the first place.

Don't like it? Tough ****. The university owns that parking lot and they get to set the rules as to how it's used, even if that means it's an absolutely empty lot after 5:00 p.m.

Email the new president. I am sure your concerns about an empty parking lot on campus will get his utmost attention. Hell take it to the BOR, and if that doesn't work either riot or organize a friendly protest on central campus.

And i'm saying what theyre paying for should be changed to say 8-3.

Sure that makes great sense. Staff are not guaranteed their spot for the last 2 hours of their work day. I have to drive my personal car for meetings/research off-campus at times. Nothing better than to come back to finish your office work and not have a space.

Except that wouldnt be a problem, given the lots are near empty.
