***Jack Trice Stadium/Hilton Coliseum alcohol sales thread***

Every camera shot of an empty part of our stadium is a bad look for the program. Everything these days is about perception and that perception is reality.

Why can 95% of the stadium find their seat but the rich folks can't?
Club seating looks like that everywhere. It's part of the deal. Say 'Thank You' for the revenue and move on.

I'd rather the rich folks get 50 yard line upper deck so they would be out of the camera shot then....would love to just do bleacher style seating where the Sukup EZ currently is and allow the student section be wrapped around that area.

The students aren't paying $1100 a ticket, plus donation requirements.

I mean, theres no reason those who took advantage of that shouldn't be.

Theres no actual connection between alcohol sales and needing to ban people from reentry. Just an excuse to slip in the change.

I do look forward to continuing to see the stadium have open seats after halftime and people finally realize it wasn't the people leaving the stadium at halftime causing it
Keeping people in the stadium to purchase food and drinks at halftime, instead of leaving, and either drinking and eating at their tailgate or spending the money they would spend in the stadium, at new CyTown locations is very much part of the conversation.

Not to mention the lack of butts in the seats after half, but that is not really the issue driving this. Money is. You dont sell goods and services at a venue then let people leave to go get those good somewhere else or bring there own. Besides very few venues of any type still do the reentry thing, you just lose out on sales too much, and you also risk the people deciding they are more comfortable watching it on the TV in their tailgate or in the sports bar in Cytown than actually going back to the stadium. Thus an empty seat on top of the loss in sales.

That is just business 101.

Apparently, there are some that don't see the clear meaning in this photo, so I will spell it out. None of the people in the endzone club need to leave the stadium in order to drink at their tailgates, yet it has a huge problem with people being in their seats when the second half starts that won't be solved by selling alcohol or prohibiting others from going out to their tailgates at halftime.
I've sat in the SEZ many times with work tickets. There has never been a time when I missed getting back in my seat because the lines for alcohol/food/toilets were too long. That is not the reason for the empty seats at the start of the second half.

He was extremely invested in speaking out against it.

I think Pollard is the best AD we’ve ever had, but he’s such an obnoxious borderline narcissist that I take some pleasure in him having to squirm a little.
Ya, I doubt he would call the fans drunken slobs if he didn't also back Wendy's stance on serving alcohol.

I mean Sukup is definitely not in my budget but if it were, I would oh I don't know..........sit in the damn seat I paid for.

I don't get how some of you don't feel embarrassed to see a less than half full Sukup End Zone.....and we have maybe 1 hot weather game and 1 cold weather game all year......and last year we had only 1 bad weather game all year (ASU)...our senior day game against Kansas was perfect weather and guess what we got with our Sukup EZ friends........emptiness.
But you're not just paying for the seat. You're also also paying for exclusive access, and not taking advantage of the perks you're given (at a high cost) doesn't make sense either.

They better, can't dip out at halftime anymore, man
It is insane to me that some people cant go a day without their weed fix, let alone a few hours at a game. If you are that hooked that you cant handle not consuming a weed product constantly, that may be a you problem not a ISU AD problem.

Christ, if you are that dependent throw a couple gummies in your wife's clear bag, or your pocket.

I was all for legal weed in Iowa, until I spent some time in Colorado, and seen how the weed culture has totally consumed everything. Towns with more weed stores than gas stations. Total weed heads and weed culture taking over locations like Manitou Springs where you cant even walk around with your family without your kids asking what stinks everywhere. A place that used to be fun and cool for the whole family, now just is full of pot head hippy types everywhere, and their head shop mystical type stores if not a pot shop. To each his own, but it some places have just dove into that culture a bit too far.

Weed is fine, I have no problem with it, in moderation, same as alcohol, but some places and some people take it way too far, as they do alcohol. You dont have to make it something that is needed constantly, that is needed on every street corner, that you need more weed stores than people in a town.

I can tell you Colorado really soured me on legal weed. Its funny though towns where you didnt see weed stores everywhere, where people still utilized Colorados natural beauty as a selling point, were still awesome. Unfortunately I have no desire to go back to those places where weed and pot culture has consumed everything, and will focus on places that Colorados beauty is the selling point.

@isuno1fan why would you rate this dumb? Because you don't like THC drinks so it's dumb? Well i don't like alcohol but i don't think selling it in the stadium is dumb. So whats the reason
Might be the fact that someone cant go without some THC for a couple hours.

If you needed alcohol that much you would be an alcoholic.

If you needed some other drug that much you would be an addict.

Needing THC that much might just be a you problem.

I drink alcohol, used to more than now, but I have never needed a drink so bad that I couldnt go a couple hours without. I have never snuck alcohol into JTS, I have never left at any time to go get a drink before coming back. I have went to many games in many locations and only a few have I ever had anything alcoholic regardless if they sold it or not. I like to have a few but it is not the end of the world to not have them. And yes I have partaken in the THC as well, but it is not something that I find myself needing to control my life, to consume everything I do, just as alcohol doesnt.

I have been a supporter of alcohol sales and to stop reentry for years, mostly because it is a benefit for the AD bringing in more money, and it is what all of our peers have done in recent years. Not because I need or plan to spend much on it myself. Hell I rarely get much of anything from concessions, as I can go a few hours without needing to stuff my face or chug a beer. Let alone getting my weed fix.

As you said you have a simply way to add it to your soda etc whenever you want, or eating a gummy etc, so you should be just fine to not get the shakes too bad during a game.

Business 101 would have been improving those in stadium concessions long ago to create more revenue this entire fing time which... JP has never done. If they're selling beer out of the normal concession area... oh boy traffic jams!

Agreed. You read it here people... Colorado sucks! I highly suggest never moving here.

From the release: "Alcoholic beverages will be sold in the north and south expanded gate areas, and the north and south concourses. They will not be sold at the permanent concession stands located on the east and west concourses to prevent additional pedestrian congestion in these areas. However, there will be a limited number of portable concession locations on the east and west concourses"

WTF are you even talking about. We are on a thread to discuss alcohol sales in jack Trice. Who said I get the shakes. When the stadium empties at Halftime and people go have drinks do they have the shakes or are they just enjoying a Saturday at the game?

The whole post you just posted sounds like you actually need a THC drink or a beer to calm your emotions down a little bit.

I wouldn't think any form of THC is conducive to a rowdy crowd, but I've never partaken so... ?

That is very true to be honest. THC has its good and it's bad. The bad is I don't get as rowdy. The good I don't get nervous during the big field goal. However, I do go nuts when we do something good like kick a last second to beat Iowa.
